    Abstract: Bi-acting verge drive means for driving a star wheel with the verge means comprising a pair of pivotally supported pawls engageable with the wheel and mechanical or electrical actuator means operatively connected to at least one of the pawls and spring means connected to the pawls whereby the pawls co-operate to rotate the wheel. The star wheel is shown adapted to actuate a counter and means is provided for resetting of the counter.

    Abstract: An escapement drive for counting mechanisms, in which the pin pallet fork includes a pair of similar pivotally interconnected arms carrying, on the respective extremities thereof, facing the escape wheel, magnet members adapted to cooperate with the coils of an electromagnetic system. These arms are mounted for pivotal movement about respective axes equally spaced from the center of the escape wheel, so that the pallet pins of the arms are positioned to receive therebetween those of the teeth of the escape wheel, which lie on a diameter thereof, adjoining a line perpendicular to the arms.

    Abstract: Stepping device for a comptometer provided with a ratchet wheel and a pawl. An oscillating or reciprocating movement of the pawl is changed to a unidirectional rotary movement of the ratchet wheel. The pawl is forked or bifurcated to form shanks on diametrical opposite sides of the ratchet wheel, which shanks are each provided with a projection cooperating with the teeth of the ratchet wheel. A least one of the shanks is provided with another projection situated at a circumferential distance from the projection on the same shank which is greater than the gear pitch of the ratchet wheel and so chosen that when the two projections of the said shank are in contact with the sides or flanks of two teeth of the ratchet wheel then the resultant force of the forces acting at these sides is directed through the rotary axis of the ratchet wheel.

    Abstract: A pneumatic counter is disclosed which comprises a frame; rocker arm supporting means connected to said frame for supporting a rocker arm; a rocker arm pivotally connected to said rocker arm supporting means, with the rocker arm having at least one outstanding portion thereof; expansible chamber means secured between said rocker arm supporting means and the aforementioned outstanding portion of the rocker arm for rotating the rocker arm in a first direction in response to a pneumatic pulse being received by the expansible chamber; biasing means secured at one end to the rocker arm supporting means and at its other end to the rocker arm for rotating the rocker arm in a second direction opposite the first direction upon the discontinuance of the reception of the penumatic pulse by the expansible chamber means; counting means; and actuating means operatively connecting the rocker arm and the counting means for advancing the counting means in response to rotation of the rocker arm.
