Such disclosed example methods also include adjusting the color histogram corresponding to the input video sequence based on a first reference color histogram corresponding to a first reference video sequence different from the input video sequence to determine an adjusted color histogram corresponding to the input video sequence. Such disclosed example methods further include comparing the adjusted color histogram and the first reference color histogram to determine whether the first reference video sequence matches the input video sequence.

Disclosed are embodiments for detecting an object and obtaining trajectory data of a trajectory of the object within the video image data from a sensor device; converting the trajectory data into a contour-coded compressed image; generating, based on the trajectory data, a searchable code that contains a set of locations traversed by the trajectory of the object within the video image; associating the searchable code with the contour-coded compressed image in a database; and returning, in response to a query having a selected location that corresponds a location of the set of locations in the searchable code, an image of the trajectory data corresponding to the object based on the contour-coded compressed image in the database.

In an embodiment, a video and target data is received. The video is analyzed to determine how a target moves and changes over time. Metadata describing how the target moves and changes over time is stored. When a user requests an on-demand video such as from a video sharing site, a visual element is inserted into the video. The visual elements move and change as defined in the stored metadata. In this way, advertisements can be inserted into on-demand video such as video from a video sharing website.

An output unit 28 reads metadata of the content, generates display data to be necessary for performing timeline displaying, and further, generates display data for displaying a retrieval result on a timeline.
