Furthermore, the invention also relates to a system and corresponding methods.

    摘要: Vehicle with an occupant safety system includes an occupant safety system designed to reduce injury to an occupant during an accident involving the vehicle and a processor coupled to the safety system and that receives at least one inertial property of the vehicle and information about a portion of a road ahead of the vehicle in its travel direction. If the processor determines, based on the at least one inertial property and the information, that the vehicle is unlikely to safely travel that portion of the road, the processor initiates action to ensure safe travel of the vehicle or safety of the occupant. The inertial property of the vehicle may be provided by an inertial measurement unit (IMU) that measures acceleration in three orthogonal directions and angular velocity about three orthogonal axes, all at a substantially common location. The occupant safety system may include one or more inflatable airbags.

    摘要: A system for weighing a load is disclosed. The weighing system includes a pad having at least one transducer for weighing a load disposed on the pad. In some embodiments the pad has a plurality of foot members and the weighing system may include a plate that disposed underneath the pad for receiving the plurality of foot member and for aligning the foot members when the weighing system is installed. The weighing system may include a spacer disposed adjacent the pad and in some embodiments, a spacer anchor operatively secures the spacer to a support surface, such as a plate, a railway bed, or a roadway. In some embodiments the spacer anchor operatively secures both the spacer and the pad to a roadway.

    摘要: A wheel-load sensor cast into a mass of material for positioning in a depression in a pavement or the like. The sensor includes a piezo-electric pickup. The pickup encloses an inner electrode and is enclosed in at least one outer electrode. The inner electrode is a solid conductor and the outer electrode a hollow conductor. The pickup can be positioned in the pavement. Some sections (16) of the wall of the piezo-electric pickup (11) more or less parallel the surface of the road. These sections are accommodated subject to a prescribed pressure between the adjacent sections of the wall of the hollow conductor (13') that constitutes the outer electrode and the other sections (16') of the wall of the piezo-electric pickup in the hollow conductor and away from the rest of the walls.

    摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for calculating the speed and weight of a vehicle as it passes over an existing bridge. The apparatus includes a number of strain gages attachable to existing bridge girders or support members each of which outputs an analog strain signal in response to strain sustained by the bridge when a vehicle passes thereover. An analog front end circuit card amplifies the analog strain signal and converts it into digital format. A pair of axle sensors installed in or on the pavement before the bridge each output an axle sense signal in response to a vehicle axle passing thereover. A central processing unit receives the axle sense signals and the digitally formatted strain signals and performs calculations necessary to determine vehicle speed and weight. A static random access memory card is used to retain the results of these calculations for retrieval at a later time. A power supply provides electrical power to the system components. The method comprises the steps of providing axle sense signals generated by a pair of axle sensors in response to a vehicle passing thereover, providing an analog strain signal generated by a strain gage attached to a bridge structure, converting the analog strain signal to digital format, determining the vehicle speed and axle spacings, relating the position of every axle on the bridge to the strain record, and calculating axle weights using a least squares error minimization algorithm.
