Abstract:
An interconnecting spacer is interposed between a pair of channel members, each having a central portion and substantially normally extending flanges. The spacer is H-shaped in cross section, having a central cross-bar and a pair of lateral side walls. The ends of the side walls and flanges of the channel members have cooperative engagement means. A plug is inserted within the cavities formed by the spacer and the channel members having a dimension such that the engagement means are placed under stress to lock the same.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an insulating bar made from a thermoplastic plastics material whereof the base body has a corrugated structure comprises shaping the insulating bar as a blank having a substantially planar structure of the base body without raised portions and recesses but with the connection strips, cooling the blank to a temperature corresponding to the maximum long-term service temperature of the plastics material or lower, heating the base body to a forming temperature which, for crystalline plastics materials, is approximately 30° C. below the crystallite melting point of the plastics material or higher, and for amorphous plastics materials, is approximately 30° C. above the softening point or higher, forming the base body by a tool to produce the alternating raised portions and recesses, while retaining the geometry of the connection strips, and cooling the insulating bar to a temperature corresponding to the maximum long-term service temperature or lower.
Abstract:
A strut includes at least one bridge that provides a defined spacing between first and second frames in a longitudinal direction. At least a first connection portion is disposed on or near an end of the bridge and is resiliently elastically deformable at least in the longitudinal direction. The first connection portion may be press-fit between a base of the first frame and an engaging portion disposed on a flange that extends substantially perpendicular from the frame base. The first connection portion may comprise a base connected to the bridge with at least one inner clip projection having a first connecting member, and an outer clip comprising a base for abutting against a surface of the first frame and at least one outer clip projection extending from the outer clip base. The outer clip projection has a second connecting member that engages the first connecting member.
Abstract:
A strip-form connector for spaced metal parts such as aluminium plates or components of windows or doors, is devised so as to perform an insulating or non-cold-bridge as well as fastening function. Basically it is made up of a hollow elongate body of plastics material with a more rigid fastening strip which is driven into the body so as to enlarge it into gripping engagement with the metal parts.
Abstract:
A frame for a window intended to serve either as a stationary frame or as a sash frame according to the invention comprises an insulating abutment list on a side surface of at least one of the top, bottom or side members intended to face a side surface of another frame of the window. The insulating abutment list is made from a material having a thermal conductivity of less than 0.08 W/(m·k), preferably less than 0.04 W/(m·K). Preferred materials for the insulating abutment list are expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS). In a window with such a frame, an insulating abutment list on the sash frame preferably extends from hinge part to the bottom member of the sash frame and an insulating abutment list on the stationary frame preferably extends from a hinge part to the top member of the stationary frame.

Abstract:
A thermal barrier apparatus and process for fabricating same, wherein the apparatus provides insulation between two or more juxtaposed frame members which may be simultaneously exposed to different temperatures and environmental conditions. A stretchable attachment strip, which is stretched to a reduced insertion shape, is at least partially inserted within corresponding strip acceptance channels of the two or more juxtaposed frame members. After the attachment strip has been properly inserted, there is a recovery step during which the stretched attachment strip recovers back towards a recovered restraining shape which not only binds the juxtaposed frame members together, but which also results in a contiguous but thermally broken profile.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a thermally-insulating connecting device for the coupling of two components comprising a resiliently deformable connecting element which is insertable into receiving channels on the components and is deformed in place by the insertion of a locking element.
Abstract:
A connector interposed between spaced metal parts, for example cavitied or hollow doors or window frames, consisting of an elongated plastics core which can be slid lengthwise between the metal parts in assembly and has a longitudinal cavity for receiving a wedge strip to expand and fasten the core in position.
