    摘要: A method and apparatus for a calendering system is provided to allow for fine gauge adjustment of the product. The calender system has a first and second roller each having a first and second end mounted in opposed end supports. The end supports each have an inlet and an outlet in fluid communication with one or more internal passages, wherein a heat transfer medium may be circulated through the one or more internal passages. The heat transfer medium may either heat or cool the internal passages of the end supports, resulting in the respective increase or decrease in the gauge of the product.

    摘要: Two axially parallel rolls are pressed against each other in a device for producing and/or treating a moving material web. Sensor elements are arranged in the force transmission path running from the force-producing elements via the rolls, outside roll bodies of the two rolls. As a result of displacing the sensor elements out of the roll bodies of the rolls, the production of the rolls is less complicated and less expensive. No sensors have to be embedded in the roll bodies, which opens up the possibility of using standard rolls. In addition, the occasional grinding of the rolls can in this way be performed without any regard to the sensor elements. Nevertheless, the pressure prevailing between the rolls can continue to be measured directly, since the sensor elements are arranged in the transmission path of the pressing force.

    摘要: A calender arrangement includes end rolls that are in the form of deflection controlled rolls having an internal stroke. One of the end rolls comprises at least one stop element that is in the form of a hydraulic positioned hydrostatic element which, together with the internal wall of the roll sleeve, defines a gap. When a constant throughput of hydraulic medium is fed in, an equilibrium of forces is produced, at which equilibrium the roll sleeve is positioned. The pressure built up in the process is a measure of the positioning forces. Small departures from the target position are permitted without control intervention.

The bearing arrangement used for the moving surface is a bearing whose operation is maintained by supplying control energy therein, wherein the information obtained from the control energy of the bearing is used in the adjustment and control unit to control the process. The bearing which is used can be a magnetic bearing and the process which is controlled can be reeling or winding or calendaring.

    摘要: A system for measuring the dynamic pressure distribution between rolls in a nip roll press comprises a roll adapted to rotatingly contact at least one other roll in a press nip, having one or more sensors thereon, for measuring the nip pressure at several locations along the roll length, wherein the measurements obtained by the sensors are transmitted to a computer and a display, to provide tabular, numerical and graphical representations of the pressure at one or more locations on the roll. Optionally a control system may be incorporated in the system for determining the pressure distribution along the roll and initiating corrective measures. The system of the instant invention can further measure temperature variations, if desired, as thermal sensors can be used on the sensing roll, or a computerized correlation scheme can relate sensor readings to temperature as well as pressure.
