    摘要： An ergonomic seam ripper includes: (a) an elongated haft with a bulged profile having a larger cross-section about its medial portion than cross-section at a palm end of the haft, the cross-section about the medial portion of the haft also being larger than a cross-section at a thumb grip end of the haft, wherein the palm end of the haft has an outer surface of generally planar structure and the haft is further characterized by a mounting portion at the thumb grip end of the haft; (b) a gripping member secured to the mounting portion of the haft made of a resilient rubbery material with a plurality of gripping ribs extending thereabout, wherein the gripping ribs are spread relatively close together at an upper portion thereof and relatively further apart at a lower portion thereof; and (c) a U-shaped cutting blade with a tapered projection and balled projection, as well as a shaft, wherein the shaft of the blade is secured to the haft such that the tapered projection is aligned with the upper portion of the gripping member and the balled projection is aligned with the lower portion of the gripping member.

    摘要： A thread removal device preferably includes a thread cutter, a grasping implement and a finger base. The thread cutter preferably includes a blade projection and a safety projection extending from a cutter base. A cover cap may be placed over the thread cutter. The grasping implement includes a first grasping leg and a second grasping leg. A first contact pad is formed on one end of first grasping leg and a second contact pad is formed on one end of the second grasping leg. The first and second contact pads are biased away from each other. The other ends of the first and second grasping legs receive cutter base. The first grasping leg, the second grasping leg and the thread cutter may be attached to each other with any suitable assembly method. The finger base may be retained over grasping implement and the thread cutter.

The cutting device has a housing and a carriage that is movably disposed in the housing, the carriage being movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The cutting device also has a cutting member that is removably disposable in the carriage, a cover member that is removably attachable to the housing, and an urging member that operably connects the carriage and the housing. The housing includes a locking member. When the carriage is in the extended position and the cover member is attached to the housing, the locking member locks the cover member to the housing. The urging member urges the carriage to move from the extended position toward the retracted position.

    摘要： A seam ripper apparatus is disclosed for attachment to conventional automatic sewing machines. The seam ripper apparatus comprises a stationary horizontal leg having a yoke formed at its rearward end for connection to the presser foot screw mounted on the sewing machine presser bar. The forward end of the leg forms a double edge v-shape cutter having the two cutting edges formed on the interior sides of the ''''v.'''' The opening of the ''''v'''' faces the forward direction. The leg also includes a transverse pivot pin extending therethrough for pivotally supporting a movable arm adjacent the leg cutter. A yoke is formed at the rear end of the movable arm for loosely fitting over the needle clamp screw mounted on the sewing machine needle bar. The forward end of the arm forms a double-edged knife which is adapted to oscillate adjacent the v-shaped cutter. The oscillatory movement is caused by the driving motion of the needle clamp screw acting at the arm yoke. The v-shaped cutter and the two edges of the oscillating knife enable the knife to perform a cutting stroke in both directions of movement.
