摘要： An apparatus is provided for feeding and slitting mattress covers, quilts and other soft goods supported on a table. The apparatus has a first slitting wheel rotatable by a motor. A second slitting wheel is rotatable by the motor and contacts the first slitting wheel to provide a cutting action. The apparatus further includes a conveyor operable by the motor for conveying the soft goods past the slitting wheels, and a compression assembly having an actuator, a gear housing, and powered wheels for compressing the soft goods and holding the soft goods against the conveyor to preventing slippage or twisting.

摘要： A portable carpet binder applies and sews a binding tape to a carpet edge. The binder includes a sewing head having a carpet support table, a sewing mechanism, a motor, means for folding the binding tape over the carpet edge, and wheels to move the carpet binder on a floor. The binder operates using a puller having a U-shaped puller bracket, means for mounting the puller bracket on the sewing head above the table, a first longitudinally serrated roller rotatably mounted on the puller bracket, a second longitudinally serrated roller rotatably mounted on the puller bracket parallel to the first roller, and coupling means for rotatably and synchronously coupling the first roller to the second roller so as to transfer rotary motion from the first roller to the second roller. Also provided are driving means for intermittently driving the puller in unidirectional rotation, and timing means for adjusting a timing relation between the driving means and the sewing mechanism.

摘要： An improved method and apparatus for the assembly of pillow-top mattress covers. In the method of this invention, the gussets for a pillow-top mattress cover are prepared in a single step in which the gusset material is folded longitudinally, and the flange material is attached thereto and the gusset material is sewn together in one stitch. Thereafter, a gusset is attached to each of the top and bottom panels of the cover along its outer edge. Each gusset is secured to the underside of its associated top or bottom panel at the folded edge using a blind stitch which is not visible externally of the panel. No gluing is required. During the step of attaching the gusset to its associated mattress cover panel, precisely positioned mitered corners are formed on the gusset where the gusset is to be attached to the corner of its associated panel. In the apparatus of this invention, a conventional blind stitch machine is modified to accept thicker work by providing a wider cam for urging work into the needle area, top and bottom feed rollers disposed even with the needle, and pneumatic control of the lower support arm.

摘要： In a sewing machine with a feed device which comprises a feed wheel arranged next to a stitch formation point, driven synchronously with stitch formation tools, and mounted in a support provided at the housing of the sewing machine, in order to obtain an extremely exact drive in both directions, the feed wheel is placed in driving connection with a step motor. In a manner known in itself, the step motor receives stepping pulses which can be generated by a pulse generator operating synchronously with a main shaft of the machine and via a counting device that determines the feed amount. This feed amount is presettable by selectable digital data contained in a memory. In an arrangement wherein the feed wheel is connected to its drive via a deflection gearing and a transmission shaft mounted in the support, the deflection gearing consists of a ring gear attached to the feed wheel and of a pinion firmly connected to the transmission shaft. An especially compact solution results by attachment of the step motor on the support and by rigid coupling of its output shaft to the transmission shaft.

摘要： An auxiliary transport device for sewing machines utilized to attach bands to the edge of a workpiece having a pair of spaced roller members disposed in frictional engagement with a band attached to the workpiece and simultaneously rotated incrementally for advancing the workpiece away from the sewing zone. A compensating roller is mounted co-axial with one of the pair of spaced roller members and incrementally rotated therewith in a location to frictionally engage and advance that portion of the workpiece extending from the band. The compensating roller is capable of yielding in a vertical direction without effecting the position of the roller with which it is operatively associated and provides a means for effectively accommodating portions of the workpiece varying in thickness as a result of attachments such as loops, pockets and the like.
