Abstract:
A photographic element is detailed which provides for improved resolution by decreasing the blue and ultraviolet radiation typically associated with internal scatter and print-through. These and other improvements are provided in a photographic element comprising a support having thereon at least one hydrophilic colloid layer, wherein at least one said hydrophilic colloid layer comprises a radiation sensitive silver halide emulsion layer, at least one said hydrophilic colloid layer comprises a filter dye consisting essentially of a compound with generic formula: ##STR1## wherein: A represents a counterion chosen from the set consisting of lithium, sodium, potassium, ammonium and alkylammonium of 1 to 15 carbons;Z represents the atoms chosen from the group consisting of carbon, sulfur, nitrogen, oxygen and selenium necessary to form an optionally substituted ring.
Abstract:
2-[2-Hydroxy-3,5-di-(.alpha.,.alpha.-dimethylbenzyl)phenyl]-2H-benzotriazole exhibits outstanding efficacy in protecting organic substrates from light induced deterioration as well as good resistance to loss by volatilization or exudation during the high temperature processing of stabilized compositions. The combination of the benzotriazole UV absorber with a hindered amine light stabilizer is particularly efficacious in protecting thermoset and thermoplastic acrylic resin automotive finishes and enamels.
Abstract:
Azo compounds containing a benzthiazolyl group and corresponding to the formula: ##STR1## are provided where A represents a radical derived from a diazotizable aromatic hydrocarbon; D is derived from an optionally substituted salicyaldehyde or o-hydroxy-naphthaldehyde and E is derived from an optionally substituted o-aminothiophenol. The compounds when applied to metallized polyolefin fabrics, particularly nickel-containing polypropylene fabrics, produce dyeings of strong bright shades which are exceptionally fast to light, dry cleaning and crocking.
