Abstract: A spherical drone and a control method thereof relate to a field of drones. The spherical drone includes a main shell defines an accommodating space, an inner support arranged in the accommodating space, a main control board, a power supply, a motor, a fixing shaft, an upper blade and an lower blade rotatably arranged on the fixing shaft, and a first crown gear and a second crown gear arranged on the inner support. Slotted holes are defined on the main shell. The first crown gear and the second crown gear are sleeved on the fixing shaft. The upper blade is fixed on the first crown gear. The lower blade is fixed on the second crown gear. The motor drives the first crown gear and the second crown gear to rotate, so as to simultaneously drive the upper blade and the lower blade to rotate.

Abstract: A coaxial rotor pair assembly, e.g., for a flight vehicle or drone, with a fixed-pitch rotor and a variable-pitch rotor that are axially spaced relative to one another on a rotor axis for rotation via rotor shafts. A first motor and a second motor are provided for the rotors to drive the respective rotor about the rotor axis. The first and second motors are each controlled by a speed controller, and speed controllers are controlled by a vehicle flight controller. A collective pitch of the plurality of blades of the variable-pitch rotor is configured to be selectively varied by the vehicle flight controller during rotation of both the fixed-pitch rotor and the variable-pitch rotor about the rotor axis. The plurality of blades of the fixed-pitch rotor are maintained a constant, fixed pitch, e.g., during operation of the flight vehicle.

Abstract: A vertical take-off and landing aircraft includes a primary rotor unit having a rotor axis, an upper rotor system, and a lower rotor system. The upper rotor system includes an upper swashplate configured to translate along the rotor axis and not configured to tilt relative to the rotor axis and a pair of top blades configured to rotate about the rotor axis. Translation of the upper swashplate causes a pitch of each of the top blades to change equally. The lower rotor system includes a lower swashplate configured to translate along the rotor axis and not configured to tilt relative to the rotor axis and a pair of bottom blades configured to rotate about the rotor axis. Translation of the lower swashplate causes a pitch of each of the bottom blades to change equally. The aircraft further includes a plurality of secondary rotors each having fixed-pitch rotor blades.
