摘要： An inking roller for a rotary printing drum such as found in a postage printing machine for rotation on a shaft removably mounted on a separable holder. The holder, when it is to be assembled to the machine, is manipulated so that the ends of the shaft enter slots in a bracket fixed to the machine, after which the holder may be pivoted about the shaft into assembled relation to the bracket, with the roller in position to engage the printing surface of said drum and to rotate therewith. The rotation of the drum is such as to apply torque to the holder when rotating the roller, whereby to help maintain the holder assembled to the bracket.

摘要： A fluid supply system for a lithographic printing press in which a fountain roller journalled in the frame of the press and driven at a slow speed is partially submerged so that a film of fluid is formed on its surface. A distributor roller is journalled in the frame parallel to the fountain roller and spaced therefrom to form a gap. A ductor roller movable broadwise in the gap is supported by a pair of arms which are, in turn, rigidly supported by a shaft journalled in the frame. A driving arm having a thrust rod connected thereto is rigidly secured to the shaft. The driving arm is coupled to a cam follower which engages a rotary cam so that upon rotation of the cam the shaft oscillates to swing the ductor roller back and forth for successive engagement of the fountain roller and the distributor roller to convey fluid therebetween. Opposed way surfaces are provided at the ends of the arms oriented generally perpendicular to the plane of the arms. Mounting blocks carrying the ends of the ductor roller are slidable on the way surfaces. Paired springs are provided on opposite sides of each of the mounting blocks in working opposition to one another so as to define a normal position of the ductor roller with respect to the arms. Upon engagement of the ductor roller with either the distributor roller or fountain roller, any relative overtravel of the cam follower is yieldingly accommodated by the deformation of the springs. A set screw in each arm prestresses the springs and adjusts the normal position of the ductor roller.

摘要： A device for mounting an ink roller made up of a cylindrical ink carrier body and having on its ends, end-disks. The diameter of these end-disks is larger than the ink roller body. Such ink rollers are used in printing devices in order that the printing types characters are inked prior to the actual printing process. To simplify the handling of such ink rollers, especially when exchanging a used ink roller for a new ink roller while at the same time avoiding the smudging of fingers or clothing of service personnel, the device is provided with two U-shaped cups that are interconnected and whose widths--at the open ends--are equal to the width of the new ink roller. The depth of these cups is equal to the diameter of the end disks of the new ink roller, and the cups are provided on both their sides with areas which act as clamps for the end disks and whereby the width of one cup--in its entire dept--is constant; while the width of the other cup increases from the open end in the direction of the closed-off end.

摘要： A printing machine of the offset type in which a foil covered roller is engageable with a rubber cloth covered roller to supply printing material thereto, while an application roller engages the foil covered roller to apply printing material thereto. Both the foil covered roller and the application roller are supported for tilting movement so the foil covered roller can be moved toward and away from the rubber cloth covered roller, while the application roller can be moved toward and away from the foil covered roller. Frames supporting the foil covered and application rollers are tiltable about respective axes lying substantially in the common tangential plane of the line of contact of the respective roller and the roller relative to which it is tiltable. The machine includes a supply of printing material contained in a reservoir formed by a ductor roller and a counter roller adjustably pressed together. The ductor roller is unidirectionally driven in adjustable steps to draw printing material from the reservoir.
