Abstract:
The tool mounted in a body of an apparatus is retained by a cotter engaging inside a notch of the tool, the cotter being engaged in a borehole of the body. The area of the body containing this borehole for engagement of the cotter is equipped with a covering ferrule. This ferrule is provided for occupying a first position in which it at least partially occludes the borehole and a second position in which the borehole is cleared for enabling the cotter to be inserted or removed.
Abstract:
A chuck for a mechanized, at least partially percussively driven, along a percussion axis (A), percussion tool (2), includes a tool guide (3), a retaining stirrup (5) having at least one stirrup arm (6) which is supported in a drag bearing (7) for a pivotal movement about a pivot axis (S) extending transverse to the percussion axis (A) and at least one elastomeric insert (B) provided between the tool guide (3) and the retaining stirrup (5).
Abstract:
A simple and positive drill steel retainer, comprising a retainer (402) and a latch (403). The retainer cannot be opened until the latch is disengaged. The latch is held in the engaged position by a spring (406). The retainer and latch can be easily disengaged in one continuous motion with one hand.
Abstract:
An adapter assembly incorporating the lower chuck end of a rotary impact tool unit, the support means thereof, and the tool bit extending from the lower end thereof. The impact tool unit is of the general type in which the impact motor is not connected directly to the outer support housing but is mounted for upward axial movement in the housing, as a result of recoil forces, to substantially reduce shock and vibration transmitted to the operator who holds the unit by means of a handle carried by the housing. The adapter assembly cooperates with the tool bit to hold it down against the work but permits the tool bit to rotate or oscillate about its axis or to remain in a stationary position angularly relative to the axis.
Abstract:
A tool retainer adapted for impacting machines and comprising a latch mounted in a sleeve of resilient material. The latch is releasably locked in a tool securing position by resilient snap action.
