摘要:
Under one aspect, an apparatus includes a primary dressing configured for application over a region of compromised skin and including fluid-absorbing material; and a secondary dressing configured for application over the primary dressing. The secondary dressing applies pressure to the primary dressing so as to maintain the primary dressing in place over the region of compromised skin and promote the flow of fluid from the region of compromised skin into the fluid-absorbing material, and allows moisture in the fluid to evaporate from the fluid-absorbing material. Under another aspect, a dressing includes a fabric layer sized to cover a region of compromised skin; a foam layer secured to the fabric layer and having an aperture defined therein sized to cover the region of compromised skin; and a biocompatible adhesive layer disposed on the foam layer. Methods of applying the dressing also are provided.

An improved load relieving dressing for transferring pressure away from a wound on a foot of a patient. The dressing having a wound opening formed through the dressing for surrounding a wound site. The dressing having an external shape which substantially conforms to the shape of the pressure distribution on the foot during load bearing. A first layer of the dressing interfacing with and cushioning a foot during load bearing. The first layer is of a material sufficient to limit pressure increases at the wound opening and within said dressing adjacent the wound opening. An off-loading layer is engaged with said first layer, and is of a material sufficiently thick and firm to reduce pressure at the wound site.

A padding and medicating device for corns, hammertoes, bunions, blisters, and the like comprising a noncompressible, thermoplastic, oleaginous, viscoelastic gel directly impregnated onto a carrier structure of elastic fabric. The ultrasoft gel is retained on and compressed against the body part being treated by the elastic tension of the fabric which causes the noncompressible gel to expand radially outward, flow over the lesion, and conform to the shape of the lesion in a manner which dissipates externally-applied pressure equally throughout the fabric-gel-tissue system. The invention also internally absorbs frictional or horizontal shearing forces, delivers a therapeutically significant dose of a lubricating, soothing, and emolifying oil such as Mineral Oil U.S.P., and is further capable of delivering a pharmacologically active substance to the foot lesion.

A package of adhesive pads for use on corns, callouses and the like is provided in the form of a sheet of pad material such as moleskin and a relatively thin sheet of plastic adhered thereto. Both sheets are die cut along a plurality of lines to form a plurality of pad elements. The lines of cut are interrupted to provide localized frangible connections between adjacent pad elements to permit the user to remove a selected element by breaking its connections to adjacent elements.
