Abstract:
A floating insect canopy forms a canopy enclosure when floating on the water, such as a pool. The floating insect canopy has a float that extends around the canopy perimeter to form a floating base. The float material may be a foam that is configured in a float sleeve. The canopy may be a netting material that enables a person visibility through the canopy when floating on a raft inside the canopy enclosure. A floating insect canopy forms a generally dome type shape by the use of a flexible extensions configured within an extension sleeve. The extension sleeve retains the flexible extensions and causes the dome shaped canopy enclosure to be automatically formed and retained by the flexible extensions. A door panel may be formed in the canopy.
Abstract:
The invention discloses an arthropod and mollusc arrangement, which includes a band having an inner side adapted to be attached to a trunk of a tree; an outer side having a sticky surface and being adapted to trap crawling arthropod and molluscs trying to cross the band; and batting material attached to the inner side and being adapted to fill crevasses on the bark of the trunk of the tree in order to prevent arthropod and molluscs to crawl between the band and the trunk of the tree. The batting material may be adapted to fill the crevasses on the inner side as the band is tensioned when applied around the trunk of the tree. The crevasses may be closed by the batting material, the arthropod and molluscs are forced to cross over the outer side of the band and get trapped in the sticky surface.
Abstract:
Devices, methods, and systems having insect guards in devices and systems for aspirated smoke, gas, or air quality monitoring are described herein. One aspirated smoke, gas, or air quality monitoring unit includes a detector module that includes at least one particulate sensing chamber within the detector module and an air inlet connecting the sampling tube to the particulate sensing chamber allowing communication of air from the sampling tube to the particulate sensing chamber; and a spiral shaped insect guard positioned within the inlet.
Abstract:
An insect restriction system for inhibiting insects from contaminating fluid in a container includes a container that contains a fluid. The container has an opening and a spout is positioned in the opening. A bulb is provided and the bulb is removably positioned on the spout. In this way the bulb inhibit insects from entering the spout to access the fluid.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention are directed, inter alia, to novel methods for producing substrates and articles of manufacture that possess a passive barrier to the passage of crawling insects and the related substrates and articles of manufacture. An exemplary article of manufacture can be a pet food bowl, a pet food container, a kitchen cupboard, a trash receptacle, a garbage receptacle, a foundation of a structure, a bee hive, a bird feeder, a plate, a bowl or a pedestal suitable for cake, cupcakes or other food item. The crawling insects can be, for example, an ant (leaf eater, Argentine, carpenter, pharaoh, fire), a spider, a cockroach, a bed bug, termites, an aphid, an arthropod, a tick, a flea, a silver fish, a thrip, a gnat, an aphid, a Japanese beetle, a beetle (potato and bean), a flea beetle, a fleahopper, a squash bug, a slug, a leaf hopper, a harlequin bug, a milk weed bug, a mite, a louse, a scorpion, a millipede, a centipede or a gypsy moth.
Abstract:
A mosquito abatement system comprising a fabric and an embedded network of components containing one or more orifices with rigid edges wherein the rigid edges of the orifices trap, damage, or sever the mouthparts of the mosquito such that the mosquito is unable to bite future hosts.
Abstract:
An insect net with emergency deployment structured to be retrofit onto the roof of the cab of the typical construction or agricultural equipment vehicle. The system includes a cylindrical insect net that may be compressed into a closed deployment box positioned on the underside of the vehicle cab roof. A deployment cord is positioned adjacent the operator where it may be readily accessed and pulled to open the doors of the deployment box to allow the cylindrical net to drop (under the influence of a ring of small weights) to surround the operator within the cab. The system is structured to be re-used by replacing the cylindrical net back into the deployment box and refitting the deployment cord with pull pin to hold the deployable components within the box for subsequent use.
Abstract:
A device (1) for trapping animal pests such as caterpillars, having a collar (2) which is designed to surround the trunk of a tree (3), the collar (2) including a substantially annular walkway (4) that extends substantially in a first plane (P1) that is intended to be oriented horizontally. Joining means (31) including an arrangement (32) of flexible bristles (33) having a suitable density prevent the animal pests from passing between the collar (2) and the trunk of the tree (3).
Abstract:
A wearable flexible strip of material including a useable section of material that is a flat strip of material that is torn from a rolled up section, the useable section of material including: a first side, the first side including a first fastening material, wherein the first side faces away from the user, a second side, the second side including a second fastening material that opposingly corresponds to the first fastening material or another material, wherein the second side fasces toward the user, is provided. Furthermore, an associated method is also provided.
Abstract:
A method of preventing snails from reaching the upper portion of the plant or tree utilizes a device which bars access to leaves and fruit subject to attack from the snails. Embodiments of the device utilized in the method have an inner funnel-shaped sleeve which biases against the tree trunk to provide a sufficiently tight closure to prevent snails from climbing between the trunk and the device. Embodiments of the device have a downward facing surface having a plurality of closely-spaced downwardly facing spike members. These spike members are sufficiently closely spaced so as to substantially or completely prevent snails, including small-sized young snails, from moving across the downwardly facing surface to crawl around the outside of the device to gain access to the upper portion of the tree.
