摘要： A rotatable line transfer mechanism for a fishing reel includes a substantially hemispherical cap (SHC) and a securing mechanism. The SHC includes an outwardly curved hemispherical upper section (OCHUS) and a wall extending vertically downwards from a boundary of the OCHUS. The SHC includes a line flow slot extending from the wall to an apex of the OCHUS. The line flow slot receives and passes a fishing line from and to a spool. The securing mechanism is attachable to the SHC to rotatably secure the SHC to a fishing reel body. The rotatable line transfer mechanism is rotated about an axis of rotation of the spool in one direction to position the fishing line in a first end of the line flow slot during a retrieve mode, and in another direction to position the fishing line in a second end of the line flow slot during a cast mode.

摘要： A fishing reel which displays an estimated weight of a fish on the fishing line while the fish is reeled-in including: a line spool; a load cell for measuring an outward force pulling on the line; a processor in communication with the output of the load cell such that the processor can periodically read the outward force on the line; and a display for displaying an estimated weight of the fish to a fisherman. Based on forces measured between the time a fish strikes the hook and the landing of the fish, the processor calculates and displays an estimated weight.

摘要： A spincast fishing reel has a reel frame to which front and rear covers are attached. The rear cover includes a pivotable thumb button which is depressed by a user when fishing line is to be cast. The front cover closes the face of the reel, but defines a forward opening through which the fishing line extends. A normally nonrotatable line spool is located inside of the front cover on a mounting hub of the reel frame. Fishing line is wound onto the line spool by a rotatable pickup head located forward of the line spool. An annular shroud element at least partially covers the outer circumferential surface of the pickup head when fishing line is being wound. As a result, the fishing line will travel between the pickup head and the inside surface of the shroud element to facilitate engagement thereof by the pickup head.

摘要： An anti-reverse apparatus for a fishing reel comprising: (a) a ratchet member mounted on a main operating shaft of the fishing reel and (b) an engaging structure incorporated in a crankshaft assembly of the fishing reel. The engaging structure is operable for directly engaging the ratchet member to thereby prevent reverse rotation of the main operating shaft and of the crankshaft assembly. The engaging structure is preferably received in a recess provided in a crankshaft drive gear. The inventive apparatus preferably also comprises a boss projecting from the reel frame for retaining the engaging structure in the recess. The engaging structure preferably comprises: a plate having a first side and an aperture extending through the plate; a first arm extending from the first side for engaging the ratchet gear; and a second arm extending from the first side for contacting the frame boss in order to limit the axial and rotational movement of the engaging structure.

摘要： A thumb pad for a fishing reel cushions the thumb of a user during repeated use. The fishing reel has a front cover, a back cover, a spool, and a spool engaging rod. The thumb pad includes a generally rectangular shell pivotally mounted within an opening in the back cover where the shell is formed from material having a first predetermined hardness. The shell has a generally sloping face portion and side portions depending from the face portion. The face portion of the shell includes a receiving portion for receiving a cushioning formation where the cushioning formation has a contour configured to receive the thumb of the user. The cushioning formation is integrally formed with the shell from material having a second predetermined hardness where the second predetermined hardness is substantially less hard than the first predetermined hardness to provide a soft surface against which the thumb of the user is placed.

摘要： A fishing reel having a line carrying spool and an operating mechanism for directing line onto the spool. The operating mechanism includes a first shaft that is rotatable about a first axis and a second shaft that is rotatable about a second axis that is transverse to the first axis. The first and second shafts are each rotatable in forward and reverse directions around the first and second axes. The operating mechanism further includes an anti-reverse system with a ratchet element on the second shaft, an actuator, and first structure cooperating between the first shaft and actuator for causing the actuator to follow movement of the first shaft between a) a first position resulting from the first shaft rotating in the reverse direction wherein the actuator does not interfere with rotation of the second shaft in the reverse direction and b) a second position resulting from the first shaft rotating in the reverse direction wherein the actuator cooperates with the ratchet to limit rotation of the second shaft in the reverse direction. The actuator is rotatable about the first axis between the first and second positions.
