Abstract:
The present invention relates to an air inlet cowl (9) for a jet engine. According to the invention, provided in the partition (20) delimiting the de-icing chamber (21) in the hollow leading edge (16) of the cowl is a trough-shaped duct (22) for ejecting to the outside pressurized hot air which has flowed through the chamber (21). The duct (22) is reduced in cross section by a single oblong orifice (18) made, parallel to the leading edge (16), in a part (23) that forms part of the external surface (9E) of the cowl (9).
Abstract:
To command notably the unclamping and the separation of two components, on a spacecraft, such as a satellite or a probe, a single actuation pushing device (10) is driven by a form memory device (36) positioned in a casing (12), between a wall (18) of the latter and a boss (24). It is linked to a heater (38). A system to prevent mistakes (20, 26, 32), sensitive to a displacement of the component (24) caused by an elongation of the device (36), prevents assembly of the pushing device (10) when it has already been actuated.
Abstract:
Method for producing a shaped part made of a graphitized carbon/carbon composite material in which a compound of carbon fibers is prepared impregnated with a solution of carbon precursors and then cut into sections placed in a mould subjected to a carbonization stage by means of hot unidirectional pressing, wherein, so as to prepare the compound, the fiber is subjected to a heat deoxidation and oil removal treatment followed by a softening in a bath for increasing wettability and hooking and then impregnation in a bath formed of an aqueous solution containing pitch mesophase, high-yield pitch and a binder, the required sufficient calculated amount of compound being placed in bulk in a hot constant volume pressing mould so as to accurately fill the mould at the end of pressing before carrying out said carbonization, the moulded part finally being graphitized at a high temperature. Applications include the aeronautic and spatial fields.
Abstract:
A draining apparatus drains and dries hydraulic equipment such as aircraft circuits. The draining equipment includes a reservoir connected to the equipment by a suction line. (Venturi 20) which produces a vacuum in the reservoir responsive to compressed air injected by a line from an external compressed air source. If a calibrated valve is connected to an inlet of the equipment then a branch line of the equipment supplies part of the compressed air to the inlet connection of the equipment so that pressure which enters the equipment is inadequate to produce an overpressure at an outlet.
Abstract:
In order to connect an electric cable (12) having a light metal core (14) to a standardized end element such as a connector contact, the partly bare end of the cable is introduced into a blind hole (20) formed in a connecting part (10) made from an electrically conductive, cold deformable material. More specifically, the bare cable end is introduced into a truncated cone-shaped, intermediate portion (24) and into a bottom portion (22) of the hole (20), whilst the adjacent end of the cable sleeve (16) is introduced into a larger diameter, inlet portion (26) of the hole. In view of the fact that the part (10) has a truncated cone-shaped, outer surface around the blind hole, a radial compacting of the part has the effect of embedding the cable end in said part and mechanically joining the latter both to the core and to the sleeve of the cable.
Abstract:
Process for the production of a composite material protected against oxidation and the material obtained by the process. The invention relates to a process for the production of a material incorporating a composite body on which an aluminum nitride layer is directly deposited and then a tight layer of a refractory oxide in order to ensure its protection against environmental oxidation. The aluminum nitride layer is attached to the composite by an aluminum carbide layer. The oxide layer is an alumina layer.
Abstract:
A water closet with a tilting cover acting as a bowl includes one mobile portion forming a bowl for receiving solid and liquid matter and pivoting around a horizontal axis and able by rotating through approximately 180.degree. to occupy two positions, namely one position for the bowl receiving the matter and the other position when the bowl is upturned and with one fixed portion disposed under the bowl and into which the contents of the bowl is emptied when the latter passes from the first position to the second position.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for deep cutting a material covering a substrate, the material absorbing laser radiation, enables the transforming of a beam from a laser source into a thin pencil of rays to create a focussing field having a thin blade shape including a large focussing depth spanning several millimeters and having variations in energy density of laser radiation less than a predetermined value so that the laser radiation is sufficient to remove an entire thickness of the material, by fusion or ablation, within the focussing field. The focussing field and the material are movable relative to each other to expose varying portions of the material to the focussing field while maintaining the focussing field substantially perpendicular to an external surface of the material or to a generating line of the external surface of the material. The invention is directed to sheets, coatings, sheaths and similar forms, and the substrate can be made of a material which reflects the radiation, and is especially applicable for stripping electrical cables.
Abstract:
A system for improving the flutter behavior of an aircraft provided with a rudder, said system comprising an accelerometer disposed in the rear portion of said aircraft, filter means, and means for adding a correction signal to the piloting signal. According to the invention said filter means comprise a bandpass filter, a phase matching filter, a variable gain amplifier and a switch transmitting the amplified signal to said adder means whenever the air speed of the aircraft is greater than a first speed threshold, said phase matching filter being such that after passing through the control means for the rudder said signal as amplified by said amplifier is retarded by 90.degree. relative to said signal generated by said accelerometer.
Abstract:
In order to form shaped convex non-extractable pieces made of a composite material, a partially polymerized (stage B) preform strip (10) is placed in a forming tool (16) along a cylindrical surface having one rectilinear generator and one convex directrix curve whose shape coincides with the shape of the piece to be embodied. The particular section of the piece is obtained with the aid of an inflatable bladder (22) pressing the preform strip against a forming die (24). In this way, the area contractions are kept to a minimum, which avoids may undulations of the fibers and any falling off of the mechanical characteristics of the pieces which may accordingly arise.
