摘要: A safety beam (11) in a vehicle door comprises an attachment end with a plurality of grooves (22, 23, 24) forming through channels to the underlying structure. The grooves have a height of 1-6 mm and an inner width of 3-7 mm and flat surfaces (18-21) between the grooves and to the outside of the outermost grooves have a width of 15-30 mm. Each of the flat surfaces comprises only one spot weld (26-29) to the underlying structure (12). The safety beam is immersed in a bath of anti-corrosive paint after assembly and is thus protected against crevice corrosion.

摘要: A vehicle door is manufactured by producing a supportive frame (10) and a waist rail (14) and a side impact guard beam (22) which are formed integrally with the supportive frame. The door is produced by hot stamping a steel sheet blank into the shape of a supportive door frame that includes an integral waist rail (14) and a side impact guard beam (22), and hardening the shaped door frame while the frame remains in the shaping tools, and fastening an outer panel (31) to the finished door such that the side collision guard beam (22) of the frame will lie close to the outer panel (31).

摘要: A side rail for vehicles has a tensile strength in excess of 1400 MPa and has one end (16) projecting from the safety cage of the vehicle and adapted to carry a bumper. The end projecting from the safety cage has lower strength with a yield point of less than 1000 MPa over a length of at least 0.4 m. It has an outer portion with a length of at least 0.2 m and a tensile strength below 800 MPa and an inner portion with a higher tensile strength than the outer portion.

The top part and bottom part of each crash box form fastening tabs (34,35) against the top and bottom of the bumper beam (11) and each tab is fastened to the bumper beam with more than one bolt (36,37,57 58). A first hole (55) fits a first bolt (57) whereas the other hole/holes (56) permit for the bumper beam to turn a limited amount around said first bolt.
