摘要： An apparatus includes a panel swingably mounted relative to a frame, and a locking element supported by a support arrangement. The support arrangement supports the locking element relative to the frame so as to be displaceable between a locked position in which at least part of the locking element is interposed between a pressure surface of the panel and a contact surface of the frame, thereby locking the panel to the frame, and an unlocked position. The support arrangement defines a path of motion of the locking element from an unlocked position to the locked position in which at least a terminal part of the path of motion is in a direction obliquely angled relative to a plane of closure of the panel within the frame.

摘要： A door or window arrangement has a panel movable relative to an opening bounded by a frame so as to close against a strike jamb or move away from it. A locking element moves between a locked state in which it engages between the panel and the strike jamb to prevent separation of the panel from the strike jamb and a released state in which the panel can be separated from the strike jamb. A linkage is displaced by a terminal part of a closing motion of the panel so that completion of the closing motion can only occur when the locking element assumes its locked state. Preferably, the linkage is deployed so that force applied to displace the panel through the terminal part of the closing motion results in a force applied to the locking element to displace it towards its locked state.

The synchronous displacement mechanism preferably has a “deadlock state” when the locking element is in the locked position which prevents displacement of the locking element towards the unlocked position.

A set of abutment surfaces for supporting the panel against applied forces is completed by a displaceable abutment block which selectively assumes an engaged state disposed between an abutment surface of the panel and an abutment surface of a strike jamb. The geometry of engagement is such that forces acting on the abutment block opposing opening of the panel are primarily compressive forces. Certain implementations additionally, or alternatively, employ abutment blocks for locking along the lintel or the threshold of the opening.

摘要： A panel closure apparatus has a panel (14) for closing against a strike jamb (12). A locking element (100) is displaceable between a released position and a locked position in which contact surfaces (102, 104) of the locking element and the panel prevent opening of the panel, and are configured so that force applied to open the panel does not generate a force to disengage the locking element. Locking element (100) has an input surface (108) deployed so as to be displaced by an actuating surface (110) of panel (14) during a closing motion of the panel from the open position to the closed position. Input surface (108) moves as a unit with locking element (100) so that displacement of the input surface by the closing motion of the panel displaces the locking element towards the locked position.
