    摘要: A shaft grounding and monitoring system may include a grounding member slidingly engageable with a rotating shaft. An electrical sensor may be configured to be coupled with the grounding member in order to detect an electrical parameter that provides an indication of electricity flowing from the rotating shaft to ground through the grounding member. A processor may be operably coupled with the electrical sensor and may receive and analyze data from the electrical sensor. The processor may be configured to periodically analyze the data representing the electrical parameter from the electrical sensor at a sampling rate and for a sampling period that is related to a rotation speed of the rotating shaft. A memory may be operably coupled with the processor and may be configured to store data processed by the processor that is representative of the data provided by the electrical sensor.

    摘要: A brush holder assembly including a quick disconnect assembly for quickly disconnecting a brush and electrical leads from a remaining component of the brush holder assembly to facilitate brush removal and replacement. The quick disconnect assembly includes a receptacle having a cavity for removably receiving and an end of the electrical lead, such as the nugget, and a resilient clip. When positioned in the cavity of the receptacle, the resilient clip urges a surface of the nugget into direct contact with a surface of the receptacle partially defining the cavity, completing an electrical current pathway from the brush through the electrical lead to the nugget, and from the surface of the nugget to the surface of the receptacle.

    摘要: A brush holder assembly for use in an electrical generator having a moving conductive surface may include a brush holder, such as a brush box, that is configured to be removably mounted to a mounting element on the electrical generator. A carbon brush may be slidingly disposed with the brush holder and may be biased into sliding contact with the moving conductive surface. The brush holder assembly includes a handle that is moveable between an unlocked position in which the brush holder is removable from the mounting element and a locked position in which the brush holder is secured relative to the mounting element. A circuit board is disposed within the handle and includes a sensor that provides an indication of an occurrence of an anomalous and/or threshold condition of the carbon brush.

The monitoring apparatus may include a flexible sensor and a signal processing circuit for processing a signal received from the flexible sensor. The flexible sensor may have an electrical resistance that varies based on a radius of curvature of the flexible sensor, wherein the radius of curvature of the flexible sensor may be associated with a deflection of a spring providing a force to engage the carbon brush with a rotating component of the electrical machine. The signal processing circuit may be coupled to the sensor and may be configured to determine a measure of a wear state of the carbon brush using information about the variable resistance of the flexible sensor.

    摘要: A brush lead guide for a brush holder assembly configured to retain the leads extending from a brush in a desired position/orientation to ensure the leads do not interfere with movement of the brush within the brush holder. In some instances, the lead guide includes a first guide rail including a channel for receiving a first lead of the brush and a second guide rail including a channel for receiving a second lead from the brush. The lead guide maintains the leads in a position such that the leads are held within the width of the opening of the brush holder to ensure the leads do not interfere with movement of the brush within the brush holder during use of the brush holder assembly.
