摘要： This invention is related to a feeder for transporting a print medium from a tray along a U-shaped transporting path. The feeder comprises a transporting guide. The transportation guide comprises an outer transporting guide and an inner transporting guide, the U-shaped transporting path is formed between the outer transporting guide and the inner transporting guide. The outer transporting guide extends from a position adjacent to one end of the first tray. The inner transporting guide extends from a position adjacent to one end of the second tray. The inner transporting guide comprises a concave portion facing the outer transporting guide. The concave portion has a length which extends from an upstream end to a predetermined position of the inner transporting guide along a transportation direction of the second print medium, and a width which is adjusted such that the second print medium is capable of passing within the concave portion.

摘要： When a print process is started, discharge speed of recording papers is first set to a first discharge speed set based on the case in which a recording paper receiving unit for placing recording papers is in a reference state. Then, when a record instruction is given for starting a process of recording images onto recording papers, it is determined whether or not the recording paper receiving unit is in the reference state. If it is determined that the recording paper receiving unit is in an extended state in which the recording paper receiving unit is extended from the reference state, the discharge speed of the recording papers is set to a second discharge speed that is faster than the first discharge speed. Then, following a paper feed operation and an image record operation, the recording papers are discharged according to the set discharge speed.

摘要： An image recording apparatus has a platen supporting the under side of a sheet conveyed in a conveying direction. The platen has upstream ribs and a downstream rib, between which a marginless recording region lies. The platen also has first ribs, second ribs and third ribs, respectively supportable of front and rear end portions of the sheet, formed in the marginless recording region, and spaced at suitable intervals perpendicular to the conveying direction. Grooves are formed between the first to third ribs and extend in the conveying direction. An ink absorber is further provided on a bottom plate of the platen positioned under the downstream rib and communicates with groove absorbing a surplus portion of the discharged ink. The platen is simple in structure and performs marginless image recording without staining either side of the sheet with easy size control of the ink absorber.

The outer guide includes a guide base including a recessed portion; at least one guide roller including a roller body and a pair of shaft portions that are formed integrally with the roller body; and a curved plate having a first curved guide surface which guides the flexible sheet, and including at least one bearing portion which bears the at least one guide roller such that a portion of the roller body projects inward from the first curved guide surface and the roller body is rotatable about axis of the shaft portions. The recessed portion of the guide base holds the curved plate such that the shaft portions of the at least one guide roller extend in a widthwise direction of the sheet-convey path.
