Abstract:
A heat-sensitive recording material is disclosed, comprising a heat-sensitive layer containing a normally colorless or slightly colored dye precursor and a compound capable of reacting with the dye precursor to form color, with at least one of the heat-sensitive layer, an interlayer, and a protective layer containing polyvinyl alcohol as an adhesive and a hardener represented by formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and at least one ether bond.
Abstract:
A novel heat-sensitive recording material is provided comprising a support, a heat-sensitive coloring layer containing an electron donating dye precursor which is normally colorless or light-colored and an electron accepting compound which exhibits a color upon reaction with said dye precursor, a first protective layer containing a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a second protective layer containing a silicon-containing denaturated polyvinyl alcohol, a colloidal silica and/or amorphous silica, wherein either of the first or second protective layer may be coated directly on said coloring layer.
Abstract:
A heat-sensitive recording material comprising a support having provided thereon a heat-sensitive recording layer, wherein (a) a microporous layer comprising at least one of a synthetic resin and a cellulose compound or (b) a layer comprising porous grains comprising secondary particles bound to the surface of primary particle as core is provided between the heat-sensitive recording layer and the support of the recording material.
Abstract:
A multi-color heat-sensitive recording material which comprises a support having thereon at least two heat-sensitive recording layers, each of which comprises a colorless or pale-color color forming agent which forms a color by heating, a color developer and a binder, an intermediate layer being incorporated between the two heat-sensitive recording layers and the intermediate layer comprising at least gelatin and/or a gelatin derivative and polyvinyl pyrrolidone and/or a polyvinyl pyrrolidone derivative, with the polyvinylpyrrolidone and/or the polyvinylpyrrolidone derivative having an average molecular weight of not more than 160,000, the content of which ranges from 1 to 20 percent by weight based on the weight of the gelatin and/or gelatin derivative.
Abstract:
A method for recording an image on a thermal recording material in which a plurality of color-development layers are laminated, the plurality of color-development layers being adapted to develop different colors, respectively, upon supply of thermal energy thereto and to form a substantially black color when all of the plurality of color-development layers undergo color development with a substantially identical density. With respect to a portion where a color other than black is to be developed, recording is effected such that a color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers becomes lower than a maximum color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers. Meanwhile, with respect to a portion where black is to be developed, recording is effected such that the color-development density of each of the plurality of color-development layers becomes higher than a maximum value of color-development density of a portion surrounding the portion where black is to be developed. Accordingly, the density of black becomes higher than the densities of colors other than black, so that a sharp contrast is produced in the black color of the image recorded on the recording material.
