Abstract:
In one embodiment, a search query may be obtained. A set of one or more use cases may be determined based, at least in part, upon the search query. A set of one or more search results may be identified based, at least in part, upon the search query. Information that answers the search query for at least one of the set of use cases may be obtained, where the information has been derived from at least a subset of the set of search results. An indication of at least a portion of the information may be provided.

Abstract:
Systems and methods, including user interfaces, are provided for implementing searches using contextual information associated with a Web page (or other document) that a user is viewing when a query is entered. The page includes a contextual search interface that has an associated context vector representing content of the page. When the user submits a search query via the contextual search interface, the query and the context vector are both provided to the query processor and used in responding to the query.
Abstract:
The present teaching relates to searching. In one example, a search query is received from a person. A plurality of search results are retrieved based on the search query. An intent of the person is estimated with respect to at least some of the plurality of search results. The estimated intent is what the person intends to do with respect to the at least some of the plurality of search results. The plurality of search results are provided based on the estimated intent of the person.
Abstract:
The present teaching relates to providing structured text. In one example, a document is obtained. One or more keywords are identified in the document. One or more topics are determined based on the one or more keywords. Each of the one or more topics is related to at least one of the one or more keywords residing in one or more portions of the document. A snippet is generated for each of the portions associated with a corresponding topic based on content in the portion of the document.

Abstract:
A first named entity, in a first query, may be identified. A first type, of the first named entity, may be determined and a first prefix and a first postfix, associated with the first named entity in the first query, may be identified. The first prefix and the first postfix may be assigned to a first group. The first group may designate one or more prefixes and one or more postfixes as being associated with the first type. A second named entity, associated with the first prefix and the first postfix in the first group, may be identified in a second query. Responsive to the second named entity being associated with the first type, a first search intent case comprising the first prefix, the first postfix, and the first type may be added to a database.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, location information indicating a region of a web page with which a user is interacting may be obtained. Contextual information pertaining to the region of the web page with which the user is interacting may be ascertained. Content may be obtained based, at least in part, upon the contextual information pertaining to the region of the web page with which the user is interacting. The content may then be provided for presentation to the user.

Abstract:
According to one aspect of the present invention, a method of actively engaging a user of a search system can include receiving from the user a search query for a search of a corpus of information and providing the user with search results for the search. The user can also be prompted to participate in a search-related activity wherein at least one aspect of the search-related activity is dependent on a context of the search. User input for performing the search-related activity can be accepted and an activity response can be provided to the user.
