Abstract: A color resist substrate and a liquid crystal display panel are provided and include a base substrate, a black matrix formed on the base substrate, an insulation layer formed in grooves, and a light shielding layer formed on the insulation layer. The grooves are defined through an edge region of the black matrix. The light shielding layer covers the grooves. By disposing the light shielding layer, light leakage on an edge of the display panel can be effectively mitigated to improve display quality.
