Abstract: A device may receive threshold data identifying threshold ranges, and may receive, from a first access point of multiple access points, first network data identifying first quality measurement indicators associated with a first link. The device may determine whether a first quality of the first link is good, fair, or poor based on comparing the first network data and the threshold data, and may provide, to the first access point and when the first quality is determined to be poor, a request for second network data identifying second quality measurement indicators associated with multiple links between the device and the multiple access points. The device may receive, from the first access point, the second network data, and may select one of the multiple access points based on the second network data. The device may utilize a link associated with the one of the multiple access points to receive video data.

Abstract: A media client device, including a memory and capable of processing Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) channels and IP channels, may receive a recording request to record content on an Internet Protocol (IP) channel. The media client device may provide, to a first device, a source Universal Resource Locator (URL) corresponding to the content, and receive, from the first device, encrypted content (e.g., an encrypted version of the content). The media client device may store, in the memory, the encrypted content, and provide, to a second device, information regarding the encrypted content to permit the second device to generate and store a license and a key. The media client device may receive a playback request to play the content, and obtain, from the second device, the license and the key. The media client device may decrypt, using the license and the key, the stored, encrypted content to obtain the content.

Abstract: A media client device may receive an electronic programming guide (EPG) including channel identifiers for a plurality of Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) channels and a plurality of Internet Protocol (IP) channels. The media client device may receive a first tuning request including a first channel identifier from the EPG, and may provide, to a second device, a first request for a source Universal Resource Locator (URL). The media client device may receive, from the second device, a source URL, wherein the source URL includes data indicating that the source URL corresponds to an IP channel and may provide the source URL to a third device via a first IP communication session. The media client device may receive via the first IP communication session, and from the third device, content segments associated with the IP channel and may provide, to a fourth device, the content segments for display.
