摘要: Magnetometers, atomic sensors and related systems, methods and devices are disclosed. In one configuration, an assembly for use in a high-sensitivity atomic sensor can include an alkali vapor cell, at least one illumination source configured to emit light when activated, the emitted light having a first predetermined range of wavelengths, a light collector capable of collecting light in the first predetermined range of wavelengths, and a plurality of optical elements arranged such that (a) light emitted from the at least one illumination source is directed to the alkali vapor cell, and (b) light emerging from the alkali vapor cell is directed to the light collector.

摘要: Aspects of a pulsed pump magnetometer improve upon previous pulsed pump magnetometers and gradiometers with the following features: the pumping is aided with a pulsed field coil parallel to the pump light, the pump laser module uses a pulse driver circuit integrated into the sensor, the pump laser module uses a wavelength selective element integrated in the laser module but separate from the emitter, and the sensor geometry is arranged so that the dead axis can be easily reoriented by rotating the long axis of the sensor. A preferred sensor geometry, with the pump axis perpendicular to the long edge of the sensor, allows a sensor to be easily rotated to avoid a low signal condition.

摘要: The pulsed pump magnetometer (PPM) is a new type of magnetometer with much higher dynamic range, linearity, and sensitivity than all other types of magnetometers. These features allow more faithful subtracting and cancelling sources of magnetic noise, enabling high quality biomagnetic measurements. Using an array of PPM sensors enables high quality measurements of biomagnetic signals even in magnetically noisy, real-world conditions like medical offices. Arrays of PPM sensors improve upon pulsed magnetic gradiometers in providing higher sensitivity per sensor and superior noise rejection through noise decorrelation and covariance modeling. Arrays of PPM sensors enable localization and imaging of biomagnetic sources.
