摘要: Generating an image includes receiving light associated with spectral bands. The following are repeated for each spectral band: an electrical signal is received at an electro-optical element, an optical property of the electro-optical element is changed in response to the electrical signal to filter for a spectral band, and the spectral band is transmitted to a sensor. The spectral bands are sensed at the sensor. The spectral bands are combined to generate a composite signal, and an image is generated from the composite signal.

摘要: A machine vision apparatus (24) and method are provided which allows imaging by or with the aid of artificial observation devices, such as video cameras, binoculars, telescopes, and other optical observation devices (10) which have an objective lens (12) passing light from an object or scene being viewed to a focal plane (18) at which is located a surface (22) which is at least partially reflective. Conventionally, such optical observation devices provide a retro-reflective light return into the scene being observed. Such a light return from an observation device can be detrimental, for example, to certain experimental results, or to the accuracy of machine vision (i.e., imaging) employed in robotic manufacturing tools.

摘要: An iris recognition apparatus (12a) and method includes a camera (22) for imaging the human retina as seen through the pupil. The reflective retina and pupil are imaged as a luminous or retro-reflective spot located in a field of view (26). A direction to the spot (i.e., the retina spot at the pupil within the iris) in the field of view is determined, and a fine-focus video camera (48) is directed along this direction to capture an image of the iris surrounding the pupil of the eye. The captured iris image can be used for unique and individual identification of the human whose eye is imaged using known data storage, retrieval, and comparison methods.
