    Abstract: A hitch assembly for connecting a towed vehicle to a towing vehicle include a housing mounted on the towing tongue of the towed vehicle having a tow bar mounted in an internal cavity having a restricted throat. Tow bar can be extended and pivoted to position a hitching eyelet on a variably proximately located towed vehicle. The tow arm coacts with the walls of the cavity to provide a torque on the tongue upon forward or rearward movement of the towing vehicle. Upon rearward movement of the towed vehicle, the tow bar attains an aligned nested position in the cavity and a lock assembly is actuated for locking the tow arm to the housing.

    Abstract: An automatic trailer hitch assembly mounts a shank unit on the trailer and a receiving unit on the towing vehicle.     Abstract: An automatic trailer hitch assembly mounts a shank unit on the trailer and a receiving unit on the towing vehicle. The shank unit provides an elongated shank member which mounts a trailer ball at one end coupled to a conventional trailer hitch ball socket housing secured to the trailer and at the opposite end is formed to slide on funnel-like guide passages into the receiving unit. A leveler assembly is mounted on the trailing end of the shank unit, releasably grasps the ball socket housing utilizing unsupported weight of the shank unit to establishing the grasping force and retains the shank unit properly positioned for coupling. The leveler assembly automatically releases as the shank unit enters or becomes fully coupled to the receiving unit. The receiving unit has a locking pin which can be latched into a position allowing entry of the shank member into the receiving unit and when the shank unit is properly positioned therein is automatically unlatched and moved into a position for locking the shank unit and receiving unit together. The locking pin can also be restored to a latched position which enables the shank unit to be withdrawn from the receiving unit.

    Abstract: A sliding jack post stand for a trailer is capable of movement in either of two directions by application of downward force on a lever by an operator standing on one side of a trailer to be moved. A low friction plate is mounted above and spaced from a ground plate on an intermediate spacer and support plate. A slider having parallel side edges bent to enclose opposed side edges of the low friction and support plates in sliding relation supports the lower end of a trailer jack post. The slider has a fulcrum located opposite a series of nests formed in the base plate. The base plate also has a fulcrum located opposite a series of nests formed in the slider. Movement in a first linear direction is accomplished by a force applied downwardly on the handle of an articulated lever placed against one fulcrum and one of the series of nests. Movement in a second linear direction is accomplished by a force downwardly on the handle of the lever placed against the other fulcrum and one of the other nests thereby minimizing the opportunity for back injury.
