    Abstract: A system for tracking a below-ground transmitter from an aerial receiver. The receiver has an antenna assembly, a processor, and a propulsion system. The antenna assembly detects the magnetic field from an underground transmitter and generates an antenna signal. The processor is programmed to receive the antenna signal and generate a command signal, which moves the receiver to a position above the transmitter. Once in the desired position, which may be a reference plane at a fixed elevation, the antenna assembly measures the magnetic field to determine the location of the drill bit along borepath.

    Abstract: A system and for providing a bore sight in a piercing tool. A transmitter emits a magnetic field. The flux lines which emanate along the transmitter axis are substantially straight. A receiver at a remote, target location can detect these flux lines. The receiver and transmitter are oriented such that the substantially straight flux line are along an intended bore path. Then, a piercing tool or other boring tool is oriented along the same path and a bore is created.

    Abstract: A lid for use with a downhole tool configured to house a beacon. The lid has an exterior and interior surface. A board is attached to the interior surface of the lid and electronic hardware is positioned between the board and the interior surface of the lid. The electronic hardware includes a pressure sensor. The pressure sensor is installed within the lid so that it is communicable with the exterior surface of the lid. When the downhole tool is positioned within an underground borehole, the pressure sensor measures the fluid pressure of any fluid surrounding the downhole tool. Measurements taken by the pressure sensor are transmitted to the beacon housed within the downhole tool. The beacon subsequently transmits such measurements to a tracker located at the ground surface.
