摘要: A training device applicable to training personnel in the treatment of a traumatic injury is presented. The invention includes a compressible body, a base, a wound structure, and an annular cavity. The compressible body simulates a body portion. The compressible body resides within the base. The base is disposed about a top surface of the compressible body. The base is harder than the compressible body so that the base protectively covers the compressible body. The wound structure is disposed along the compressible body. The wound structure includes a wound cavity which extends from the top surface into the compressible body. The annular cavity extends into the compressible body about the wound cavity. The annular cavity permits movement and/or expansion of a wall defined by and between the wound cavity and the annular cavity when probed by a finger or instrument and packed with gauze, bandages, and the like during treatment of the wound structure to stem blood flow from a bleed tube.

摘要: A medical simulant applicable to training personnel in the treatment of a traumatic injury is presented. The simulant replicates the appearance of a body part and is mechanically responsive to externally applied pressure so as to mimic the response of a vascular element when a tourniquet or the like is applied to the body part. The simulant includes a compressible body, a structure, a compressible tube, and a pair of plates. The compressible body replicates an arm, a leg, or another body region. The structure replicates an injury, either penetrating or non-penetrating, and is disposed along the compressible body. The compressible tube replicates a vascular element. The plates are separately disposed within the compressible body about the compressible tube. The plates are configured to deform the compressible tube so as to interrupt flow of a liquid simulating blood therein when a compressive force is applied onto the compressible body by a tourniquet or the like.

For embodiments specific to establishing an emergency airway, the simulant includes a compressible body, an insert, an outer covering, and an inner covering. The compressible body and the outer covering approximate a neck with or without a chin. The insert approximates a trachea. The insert is disposed within and separable from the compressible body. The inner covering is disposed between the outer covering and the insert. For embodiments specific to an intramuscular injection, the simulant includes a compressible body, a slot, and a fill. The compressible body approximates a muscle. The slot extends into the compressible body. The slot is adapted to receive the fill. The fill is removably secured within the slot. The fill is adapted to receive a fluid from a syringe which penetrates the simulant.

摘要: A trainer for practicing an intraosseous infusion is presented. The trainer includes a mannequin and an injection-site simulant. The mannequin is in the form of a body, human or animal, in part or whole. The injection-site simulant further includes a pocket, an insert, and an outer cover. The pocket extends into the mannequin. The insert simulates a hard exterior of a bone. The insert is disposed within the pocket. The outer cover with a plug simulates a skin, human or animal. The outer cover conceals the insert, the pocket, and the plug. The pocket and the insert cooperate to form a cavity. The cavity is disposed where marrow resides within the bone. The cavity is capable of receiving a fluid injected through a hole formed during use through the outer cover, the plug, and the insert. The plug sealingly contacts and cooperates with at least one of the insert or the wall within the pocket to confine the fluid within the cavity.
