    Abstract: In one embodiment, a wireless tag reading device includes a plurality of antennas for wireless tag communication, a number-of-times acquisition unit, a strength acquisition unit, and a direction specifying unit. Each antenna is arranged along a passage through which a wireless tag passes. The number-of-times acquisition unit acquires a number of times of reading of data of the wireless tag read by each of the antennas for each unit time for each of the antennas. The strength acquisition unit acquires a received signal strength indicator when the data of the wireless tag is read by each of the antennas for each unit time for each of the antennas. The direction specifying unit specifies a moving direction of the wireless tag passing through the passage based on the number of times of reading and the received signal strength indicator for each of the antennas that are acquired for each unit time.

    Abstract: A wireless tag communication device includes an antenna configured to transmit a carrier wave and receive a response wave output from a wireless tag with respect to the carrier wave and to specify a position of the wireless tag to be searched based on a radio wave intensity of the response wave received by the antenna. The device includes: a radio wave controller configured to switch the carrier wave between a first and second carrier wave to be transmitted in a first and second polarization direction respectively; and a comparator configured to compare a first and second radio wave intensity of a first and second response wave respectively output from the wireless tag with respect to the first and second carrier waves respectively, and the radio wave controller switches the carrier wave between the first carrier wave and the second carrier wave based on a comparison result of the comparator.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a wireless tag reading apparatus includes a first communication interface configured to communicate with a first external device, a second communication interface configured to communicate with a second external device, an antenna configured to emit a radio wave to read a wireless tag, and a controller. The controller is configured to identify either (a) the first communication interface as being in communication with the first external device or (b) the second communication interface as being in communication with the second external device. The controller is configured to change a power level of the radio wave emitted by the antenna based on which of the first communication interface or the second communication interface is identified. The controller is configured to read the wireless tag by controlling the antenna to emit the radio wave with the changed power level.
