Abstract: A sound attenuating device for a work steel or other tool subject to impact blows during the operation thereof is disclosed, wherein a metal sleeve encircles a portion of the body of the steel and a quantity of elastomeric material is provided in the clearance between the sleeve and steel so as to fill such clearance and engage both the exterior of the steel and the interior of the sleeve.
