Abstract: An electrical connector comprises at least one contact element, and a cover structure restricting access to the at least one contact element. The cover structure includes a wall element at least partially surrounding the at least one contact element and defines a reception zone between the wall element and the at least one contact element. The wall element includes at least one deflectable latch member. A cover element is movable within the reception zone along a retraction direction from a secured position to a retracted position. The at least one contact element is enclosed by the cover element in the secured position. The at least one deflectable latch member secures the cover element in the secured position.
