Abstract: Instruments or gauges arranged to provide feedback detectable by the peripheral vision of a driver when vehicle operating parameters, such as engine speed, temperature, pressure, and voltage, are in a critical range, include one or more of the following types of instruments or gauges and/or features: (a) a tachometer that not only includes a primary numeric display, but also a secondary display made up of a plurality of discrete lights of different colors, the colors indicating whether the engine speed of a vehicle is within a relatively narrow range of engine speeds acceptable for the roadway leading from a race track to service areas, known as “pit road,” the high and low limits of the range being adjustable to meet pit road requirements at different tracks; (b) an instrument or gauge having a background that illuminates to indicate critical sensor readings; (c) an instrument or gauge having improved handling of sensor abnormalities to prevent false readings; (d) a non-linear analog gauge for a motor vehicle having a higher resolution in a particular range of interest, and a lower resolution outside that range; and (e) a boost pressure gauge that facilitates entry of gear information for use in traction control. The instruments or gauges of the invention are suitable for use in racing vehicles that meet standards established by NASCAR.

Abstract: A fishing tackle bait keeper for a fishing hook includes an anchor and an extension member. The anchor has a sleeve with first and second ends, and plural ribs coupled to the first end. The ribs project in a diverging arrangement from the first end of the sleeve in a direction opposite of the sleeve first end. The ribs each have a free end. The ribs move from a deployed position to a retracted position, wherein when the ribs are in the retracted position, the ribs are oriented with the sleeve to allow insertion of the bait keeper into a bait, and wherein when the ribs are in the deployed position, the ribs extend out from the sleeve to resist being removed from the bait, the ribs are normally in the deployed position. The extension member is coupled to the sleeve and having an attachment portion for coupling with the hook.

Abstract: A fishing lure has a body with an eye on a rear end portion. A blade is coupled to the eye by way of rings. The blade has two lateral portions, which are non-planar to one another and join together along a ridge. The ring component allows the blade to rotate between limits, with the blade rotating in one direction to a first limit and then rotating in the opposite direction to a second limit. This causes the blade to rotate then stop and then reverse rotation until the next stop. The rotation-stop movement of blade causes the lure to move erratically, mimicking a fish.

Abstract: A jig head for fishing, the jig head comprises a head portion comprising a tapered tip and a base, a hook having a point, a shank, and an eye adapted for attachment to a fishing line. A belly weight extending from the base comprises first and second ends defining a space between the shank and the belly weight, the space being adapted to receive a portion of a bait. The belly weight in certain embodiments is flexible such that the belly weight can be bent towards the shank and the belly weight comprises one or more shank facing barbs positioned between the first and second ends of the belly weight. The jig head comprises one or more tapered bells adapted to help secure a plastic bait in place.

Abstract: A fishing lure has a body and a tail. The tail is coupled to one end of the body. The tail has a center portion and an outside edge that is arcuate around the center portion. A gap extends from the outside edge to the center portion. In one embodiment, the outside edge is thicker than the center portion of the tail. When the lure is retrieved, the tail moves back and forth and creates a noise and also causes the body to move back and forth, thus producing a desirable action.

Abstract: A fishing lure has a body and a hook. The hook has a shank that extends from the body, a bend and a point. The hook is lying in a hook plane. A brush guard has bristles that extend from the head to a blocking position in front of the hook point. The bristles are spread apart to either side of the hook plane. An elastomeric band around the lure body retains the bristles in a spread apart configuration. The spread apart bristles create a laterally wider brush guard so as to prevent snagging of the hook point no matter what the orientation of the lure in the water might be.
