Abstract: An image reading apparatus comprising: an original reading unit configured to read an image of each of multiple originals placed on an original table in batch by a batch-scan; a cropping unit configured to crop an image of each original from an entire image which is read by the batch-scan; an image output unit configured to output a cropped image of each original; and a control unit configured to control the original reading unit, the cropping unit, and the image output unit, wherein the control unit is capable of selectively executing: an inversion multi-crop process in which an image density of an edge of each original is supposed to be higher than an image density of a reading-area outside of the original, and an area to be cropped is determined on the basis of a difference in the image density between the edge and the reading-area outside of the original; and a non-inversion multi-crop process in which an image density of an edge of each original is supposed to be lower than an image density of a reading-area outside of the original, and an area to be cropped is determined on the basis of a difference in the image density between the edge and the reading-area outside of the original.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image reading apparatus including: a scanner that scans originals by a batch-scan that are placed on an original table; an original reading circuitry that reads an image of each of the scanned originals, and control circuitry, wherein the control circuitry executes a continuous multi-crop process according to a selection by a user, and when the continuous multi-crop process is executed, the control circuitry displays on the display one operation key that receives an instruction to start the next scan and another operation key that receives an instruction to end the reading respectively every time each batch-scan is executed to enable the batch-scan to be repeatedly executed until receiving the instruction to end the reading, and handles the images of the originals read by the repeated batch-scans as a series of image data.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a light transmitting member provided at a reading position set in a conveyance path and an opposite plate opposed thereto, and a document being conveyed passes between this opposite plate and the light transmitting member. On an opposing surface of the opposite plate to the light transmitting member, a low brightness area, for example, like a gray color and a high brightness area, for example, like a white color, having a higher brightness than the low brightness area are formed adjacent to each other in a conveyance direction of the document. Then, an image reader sets a home position of a scanning unit to a first position or a second position corresponding to either the low brightness area or the high brightness area to read the document passing through the reading position.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus including: an original reading circuit configured to scan at least one original placed on an original table and read an image of the original; an original size detector configured to detect a size of an original to be scanned before the scan; and a control circuit configured to determine as a reading-area an area from which an image is to be read by the original reading circuit by referring to the original size detected by the original size detector, wherein the control circuit is configured to initiate a multi-crop process in which the original reading circuit scans a plurality of originals placed on the original table in batch as a batch-scan and crops an image of each of the originals, and to determine the reading-area based on a width of a maximum original in a main scanning direction and a length of a maximum original in a sub-scanning direction regardless of the detection of the original size detector when initiating the multi-crop process.
