Abstract: A electronic device includes a memory, a communication circuit that supports plural frequency bands for wireless local area network (WLAN) communication, and a processor operably connected to the memory and the communication circuit. The processor establishes WLAN communication with an access point (AP) over a first frequency band among the frequency bands, compares, based on a signal of a second frequency band different from the first frequency band being detected, the first frequency band with the second frequency band, determines, based on the second frequency band being higher than the first frequency band, a change in a strength of a signal received over the first frequency band, estimates, when the change indicates an increase in the strength, a link quality for the AP over the second frequency band, and switches the first frequency band for WLAN communication with the AP to the second frequency band based on the link quality.

Abstract: A wireless communication method for a wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) network and an electronic device for performing the same are provided. The electronic device includes a communication module configured to receive a beacon frame and/or a probe response frame from a peripheral access point (AP) device through wireless communication and a processor. The processor is configured to identify one or more network identifiers of a co-located AP device based on information of a reduced neighbor report (RNR) element field included in the beacon frame and/or the probe response frame, determine one or more candidate networks based on the network identifiers of the co-located AP device when access to another network from a network of a currently connected AP device is necessary, determine a target network for an access attempt among the one or more candidate networks, and attempt a connection to the determined target network.

Abstract: In an electronic device and/or an operating method of the electronic device, the electronic device may include: a communication circuit configured to perform short-range wireless communication through a first frequency band and/or a second frequency band lower than the first frequency band; and a processor, wherein the processor may be configured to identify whether a channel in the first frequency band is a non-preferred scanning channel (non-PSC), based on reduced neighbor report (RNR) information included in a signal received through the second frequency band from an external electronic device, determine a quality of a signal to be received through the first frequency band, based on transmit power control (TPC) information received from the external electronic device upon identifying that the channel in the first frequency band is the non-PSC, and determine whether to perform an operation of scanning the non-PSC, based on whether a quality of a signal to be transmitted through the first frequency band satisfies a specified condition. In addition, various embodiments are possible.
