Abstract: A display apparatus includes a display panel, a light guide plate disposed under the display panel, a first reflective sheet disposed under the light guide plate, an edge type backlight including a plurality of light emitting diodes disposed on at least one side surface of the light guide plate, a top view type backlight including at least one light emitting diode disposed under the light guide plate at a position corresponding to a partial area of the display panel, and a processor configured to turn on one of the edge type backlight and the top view type backlight according to a display mode, wherein an area corresponding to the top view type backlight of the first reflective sheet is formed of a material having a greater refractive index than the light guide plate.
