Abstract: An adjustable length strut includes two joints, a threaded rod extending between the joints, and a tube adapted to receive the threaded rod. An actuation mechanism with gear teeth extending radially outward of the strut axis is rotatably fixed to the threaded rod. A protrusion may be coupled to an end of the threaded rod by a rotatable collar, with the protrusion extending through a slot in the tube to mark the length of the strut. A modular attachment member may be adapted to be couple to the first joint and include a worm gear adapted to engage gear teeth of the actuation mechanism. The modular attachment member may include a radiofrequency identity tag mechanism adapted to be read by a tag reader of a tool, the tool adapted to couple to the attachment member to rotate the worm gear to increase or decrease the effective length of the strut.

Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods in which a surgeon can use computer-implemented deformity assessment and correction tools to create 3D models of a bone. To ensure adequate healing, a surgeon may choose to use a prefabricated bone plate, a semi-customized bone plate, or a fully-customized bone plate to hold first and second bone portions in a corrected position. To select the appropriate prefabricated bone plate, the surgeon may identify three landmark locations on the first and second bone portions corresponding to desired fixation hole locations on the bone plate. The surgeon can then use a software application to evaluate multiple bone plate designs in a library and compare the average proximity of the landmark locations to fixation hole locations on each of the bone plate designs. Then, the surgeon can determine which bone plate design best fits the patient anatomy based on his comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a bone plating system and a method for utilizing the same. The bone plating system may include first and second bone plates in contact with respective first and second bones, a cross-connector, a cutting guide and a targeter device. The cross-connector may have a first end and an opposite second extending along a longitudinal axis from the first bone plate to the second bone plate. The cutting guide may have an elongate body placed on one of the first or second bones. The targeter device may have a drill guide to align the cross-connector with the first and second bone plates. Abstract: Disclosed herein are arthroplasty jigs each having a living hinge that allows the jigs to be snap-fitted on and off bone. The jigs each have a flexible portion and base portion. The flexible portion is adapted to move toward and away from the base portion as the guides are snap-fitted on and off bone. The jigs may include cutting slots for receipt of cutting instrument to resect the bone and/or guide holes to aid in securing the jig to the bone. The living hinge of the jigs is defined by one or more recesses in the body of the jigs.

Abstract: A system for processing patient data associated with a joint of a patient. The system comprising a computing device executing instructions to generate a 3D patient bone model of the joint in a non-weighted pose. The instructions rearrange 3D first and second bone models in order to mimic a weighted pose of the joint of the patient from a 2D image of the joint of the patient in a weighted pose by performing the steps of: generating a plurality of 2D projections of poses of the 3D patient bone model; comparing the plurality of 2D projections to contour lines of the first bone and the second bone in the 2D image; identifying particular 2D projections that best-fit a shape and size of the contour lines; and arranging the 3D first and second bone models relative to each other according to orientations represented by the particular 2D projections that were identified.
