    Abstract: An adjustable length strut includes two joints, a threaded rod extending between the joints, and a tube adapted to receive the threaded rod. An actuation mechanism with gear teeth extending radially outward of the strut axis is rotatably fixed to the threaded rod. A protrusion may be coupled to an end of the threaded rod by a rotatable collar, with the protrusion extending through a slot in the tube to mark the length of the strut. A modular attachment member may be adapted to be couple to the first joint and include a worm gear adapted to engage gear teeth of the actuation mechanism. The modular attachment member may include a radiofrequency identity tag mechanism adapted to be read by a tag reader of a tool, the tool adapted to couple to the attachment member to rotate the worm gear to increase or decrease the effective length of the strut.

    Abstract: Described herein are systems and methods in which a surgeon can use computer-implemented deformity assessment and correction tools to create 3D models of a bone. To ensure adequate healing, a surgeon may choose to use a prefabricated bone plate, a semi-customized bone plate, or a fully-customized bone plate to hold first and second bone portions in a corrected position. To select the appropriate prefabricated bone plate, the surgeon may identify three landmark locations on the first and second bone portions corresponding to desired fixation hole locations on the bone plate. The surgeon can then use a software application to evaluate multiple bone plate designs in a library and compare the average proximity of the landmark locations to fixation hole locations on each of the bone plate designs. Then, the surgeon can determine which bone plate design best fits the patient anatomy based on his comparison.

    Abstract: A system for guiding a cutting tool in an osteotomy procedure includes a cutting block. The cutting block includes an aperture extending through a thickness of the cutting block and having a length and a width. The width of the aperture is defined between a first interior surface of the cutting block and a second interior surface of the cutting block opposing the first interior surface. The system further includes a sleeve. The sleeve includes a slot configured for receiving a sawblade and configured for insertion into the aperture of the cutting block such that the sleeve contacts either the first interior surface or the second interior surface without contacting the other interior surface.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are a bone plating system and a method for utilizing the same. The bone plating system may include first and second bone plates in contact with respective first and second bones, a cross-connector, a cutting guide and a targeter device. The cross-connector may have a first end and an opposite second extending along a longitudinal axis from the first bone plate to the second bone plate. The cutting guide may have an elongate body placed on one of the first or second bones. The targeter device may have a drill guide to align the cross-connector with the first and second bone plates. A method for fixing the bone plating system to the first and second bone may include using the targeter device.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are arthroplasty jigs each having a living hinge that allows the jigs to be snap-fitted on and off bone. The jigs each have a flexible portion and base portion. The flexible portion is adapted to move toward and away from the base portion as the guides are snap-fitted on and off bone. The jigs may include cutting slots for receipt of cutting instrument to resect the bone and/or guide holes to aid in securing the jig to the bone. The living hinge of the jigs is defined by one or more recesses in the body of the jigs.

    Abstract: A bone implant includes a proximal end, a distal end, a first portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height, and a second portion extending between the proximal and distal ends having a maximum and minimum portion height. The second portion is connected to the first portion at the proximal end and the distal end and at least one of the first portion and the second portion is moveable relative to the other of the first portion and the second portion so as to transition the bone implant between a relaxed state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a first distance and a contracted state wherein the first and second portions are separated by a second distance different from the first distance. At least one of the proximal end and the distal end have the minimum portion height.
