Abstract: A method for operating a system of the iron and steel industry for producing a metal product with participation of a severing or forming device. The actual value of an indicator be calculated over a length section of the metal product for the metal product to be produced. The indicator represents the resistance of the metal product to severing or forming processes. The calculated actual value pIst for the indicator p is then compared to a predefined threshold value. The severing or forming also only actually takes place when the actual value of the indicator of the metal product is less than the threshold value. If a comparison should show that the actual value of the indicator is greater than the threshold value, before the severing or forming of the metal product, a local processing of the metal product is performed in the corresponding length section.

Abstract: A furnace for heating metal strips, and to a device and a method for producing metal strips by continuous casting and rolling. The device includes a casting machine, a furnace through which a metal strip can be transported in a conveying direction, a first external cutting apparatus and a second external cutting apparatus, the first external cutting apparatus being upstream of the furnace and the second external cutting apparatus being downstream of the furnace, in the conveying direction of the metal strip, and at least one rolling mill. A first internal cutting apparatus and a second internal cutting apparatus are provided inside the furnace. A segment of the metal strip between said internal cutting apparatuses can be separated by actuating the latter.

Abstract: A method for producing a metal strip in a cast-rolling installation, the cast-rolling installation includes the following: a casting machine, a first furnace, a first shear, a roughing train, a second furnace, a second shear, a finishing train, a cooling section, a reeling system, and a third shear. In order to allow a flexible reaction to different operating conditions, at least one of the following operating modes is selected in order to produce the strip: a) a continuous rolling, in which the casting machine, the roughing train, and the finishing train are operatively connected together; b) a continuous rolling in the roughing train and a single-strip rolling in the finishing train; c) a single-strip rolling in the roughing train and a single-strip rolling in the finishing train; and d) a semi-continuous rolling in the roughing train and/or a semi-continuous rolling in the finishing train.

Abstract: A method for producing a metal strip (1) by casting and rolling, wherein first a slab (3) is cast in a caster (2) by dispensing metal from a mold (4), wherein the slab (3) is deflected from the vertical direction to the horizontal direction in the region of a strand guide (5), wherein the slab (3) is then tempered in a furnace (6), wherein the slab (3) is rolled in a rolling train (7) after the furnace (6) and wherein the slab (3) is processed either in discontinuous batch operation or in continuous or semi-continuous operation in dependence on a specified manner of operation. According to the invention, in order to create optimal process conditions for all desired operating modes, the slab (3) to be rolled or the metal strip (1) being rolled is subjected to heating in the region of the rolling train (7) at least between two roll stands (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) by means of an inductor (15).
