摘要： A tubular LED lamp to be used with an external electronic power controlling device which is adapted to provide an input voltage to the lamp, comprising: a LED unit; a driving circuit for the LED unit; and a safety detection circuit adapted to detect whether the tubular LED lamp is correctly connected to an external lamp fixture; characterized in that further comprising: a holding current providing circuit adapted to provide a holding current through the electronic controlling device so as to maintain the electronic controlling device to be conductive; and a controlling circuit adapted to synchronize the safety detection circuit with the holding current providing circuit such that the safety detection circuit is adapted to carry out the detection when the hold current providing circuit is adapted to provide the holding current and the electronic controlling device is conductive; wherein the controlling circuit is adapted to deactivate the holding current providing circuit and the safety detection circuit after the detection in one cycle of the input voltage, and re-activate and deactivate them in a later cycle.

摘要： A device for determining a type of a power source for powering a LED lighting unit, wherein one possible type comprises a ballast originally designed for a high intensity discharge lamp and repurposed for use with an LED lighting unit. The power source type determiner monitors at least one electrical parameter of either a load or the power source itself after a power drawn by the load whose characteristic is set to a critical value. A value of the electrical parameter is used to identify a type of the power source. A value of the electrical parameter is the pulse generated by the traditional ballast for gas discharge lamp, which pulse is detected to determine the type of the power source.

The external power connector of the lighting unit (i.e. the electrical connector plug for connecting the lighting unit to an electrical lighting socket) comprises a manual adjustment element for selecting a setting of the controller. Thus, the manual adjustment element, which functions as a manual user interface, is integrated into the electrical plug part of the lighting unit.
