Abstract: A method (400) of controlling a lighting unit (110) of a lighting system (100a, 100b) is disclosed. The lighting system (100a, 100b) comprises the lighting unit (110) and a lighting control device (120) comprising a user input element (122) for receiving a continuous user input for changing an intensity of the light output of the lighting unit (110). The method (400) comprises receiving (402) a signal indicative of the continuous user input, obtaining (404) one or more parameters, the one or more of parameters comprising at least a current light setting of the lighting unit (110), the current light setting having an intensity level between a predefined maximum intensity level and a predefined minimum intensity level, and controlling the intensity of the light output of the lighting unit (110) over time while the continuous user input is being provided, wherein the intensity of the light output is either increased or decreased based on the one or more parameters.

Abstract: A presence mimicking system comprises a first lighting system (1A) arranged to illuminate a first environment and a second lighting system (1B) arranged to illuminate a second environment. A computer system configured to receive from the first lighting system an indication of a sequence of illumination settings, at least some of which have been applied to the first lighting system by at least one user when present in a first environment illuminated thereby. The computer system is configured, in response to a mimic instruction, to mimic in the unoccupied second environment the presence of the at least one user of the first environment, by applying a matching sequence of illumination settings to the second lighting system, wherein the computer system is configured to select the first lighting system for use in the presence mimicking from a set of candidate lighting systems, by comparing a profile of the second lighting system with profiles of the candidate lighting systems.

Abstract: A lighting script—for use by a lighting controller to control at least one luminaire to render illumination effects, as the video content is outputted in a space illuminated by the at least one luminaire, synchronously with the outputting of the video content—is generated as follows. Frame image data of the video content is processed to determine at least one color palette of the frame image data. A sequence of illumination effects—to be rendered during the outputting of the video content and which is modifiable by a user—is displayed to the user. The displayed sequence conveys at least one illumination color derived from the determined color palette to be rendered in at least one of the illumination effects. The generated lighting script is for rendering the modified sequence of illumination effects.

Abstract: A lighting control system and method for controlling a plurality of lighting units wherein an image of a space including the lighting units is obtained, and certain non-lighting objects in the space are identified. The objects can be associated with light settings, and the relative position of lighting units to the objects allows the lighting units to be selectively associated with those light settings also. Linking of lighting units, non-lighting objects, and control settings in this way arranged can be achieved with minimal user input, and provides improved control of lighting in an environment.

Abstract: A method comprising: receiving a first user input signal indicating that the user has performed a first interaction with a user input element of a lighting system; based thereon, controlling the illumination emitted by at least one luminaire of the lighting system; detecting a notification generated by an application, wherein the application provides the user with a second service other than controlling a lighting system, and the notification is indicative of an event occurring within the second service; in response to detecting this notification, automatically controlling the lighting system in order to alert the user to the event; receiving a second user input signal indicating that the user has performed a second interaction with the user input element of the lighting system following the alerting of the user; and in response to the receipt of the second user input signal, automatically performing an action in relation to the second service.

Abstract: A system (1) is configured to receive device control information. The device control information specifies how devices, e.g. lights, should be controlled. The device control information may identify specific devices or specify device requirements, for example. The system is further configured to form a group of identified devices by analyzing the device control information, the identified devices of the group being controlled similarly according to the device control information. The system is also configured to transmit at least one message comprising an identifier of the group to allow the identified devices to be configured to carry out one or more commands comprising the identifier when receiving such one or more commands. The at least one message identifies the identified devices of the group.
