Abstract: Disclosed herein is a display apparatus and a control method thereof. The display apparatus includes a liquid crystal panel, a backlight unit including a light source module including a plurality of light sources, the backlight unit including a light guide plate configured to guide light emitted from the light source module to the liquid crystal panel, and a controller configured to control the liquid crystal panel and the backlight unit, and each of the plurality of light sources includes a first light emitting diode (LED) configured to emit a first light and a second LED configured to emit a second light in a color different from a color of the first light, and the controller determines current values to be applied to the first LED and the second LED based on a picture mode.

Abstract: A display device having a structure capable of improving brightness “Mura” and color “Mura” that may be generated in a direct type backlight unit has a structure in which a plurality of light sources are arranged in a pattern similar to a square arrangement along the edges of the backlight unit, and in a pattern similar to a triangle arrangement within an intermediate region of the backlight unit, and a connector for connecting a cable disposed on a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is disposed on the rear side of the PCB such that the connector does not influence “Mura” of the backlight unit.
