Abstract: A display apparatus and a method of controlling the display apparatus are provided. The display apparatus includes a display, a communication unit, and a processor. The display is configured to display content. The communication unit is configured to communicate with an external apparatus and a remote controller. When the communication unit receives a first signal corresponding to a user command being received at the remote controller, the processor controls the communication unit to transmit to the external apparatus a second signal comprising the user command and context information regarding the content. In response to receiving, from the external apparatus, application information which indicates an application to be executed, the processor executes the application.
