Abstract:
System and method for measuring static load by using a piezoelectric load sensor with a feedback technique to compensate for the signal loss due to charge leakage, and therefore ensures measurement accuracy. The system is integrated with other structure, objects and devices to measure static loads applied to a mechanical shaft, in an on-line, in-process, quasi real-time fashion. The system can be used to measure static load and thus oversee an entire machine system or a manufacturing process.

Hybrid-electric powertrain control systems and methods include a set of sensors configured to measure a set of operating parameters of a set of components of the hybrid-electric powertrain that are each a constraint on minimum/maximum motor torque limits for the electric motors thereby collectively forming a set of constraints and a controller configured to perform a linear optimization to find the best engine torque values that are attainable subject to a set of constraint inequalities as defined by current vehicle state and as monitored by the set of sensors, and control the hybrid-electric powertrain based on the best engine torque values to avoid excessive torque commands that could damage physical components of the hybrid-electric powertrain and/or could cause undesirable noise/vibration/harshness (NVH) characteristics.

Simple, inexpensive, general-purpose devices and methods achieve simultaneous, full-duplex and bi-directional communication of analog, digital or audio signals across a single conductor. “Sifudu” transceivers, which stands for “simultaneous and full-duplex,” reduce the number of cables necessary for transferring information between two or more terminals at a given rate, and/or facilitate information transfer at a higher rate than traditional circuits across the same number of cables. The transceivers can accommodate both digital and analog signals of arbitrary polarity. Since a sifudu circuit is capable of transmitting analog signals, it is also capable of transmitting digital signals in frequency, phase, or amplitude shift keyed form, thus opening the possibility of realizing higher baud rate than other simultaneous bidirectional communication systems that transfer digital data only, one bit at a time in each direction. The transceivers can be connected into a multi-terminal network configurations including chain, star, tree, woods topologies, alone or in combination.
