Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques are described herein for encoding downlink control information (DCI) based on the number of transport blocks being scheduled by the DCI. The number of transport blocks supported by the DCI may be indicated explicitly using a field included in the DCI. The number of transport blocks can be implicitly signaled in a bitstream of the DCI block. The type of encoding scheme may be based on the coverage enhancement (CE) mode associated with a user equipment.
