    Abstract: Aspects include systems, methods, devices, and non-transitory processor readable storage mediums for reducing excessive millimeter wave (mmW) radio frequency (RF) exposure to a user of a wireless device. Various aspects may enable an RF exposure condition for the wireless device to be detected while the wireless device is operating in a mmW mode during a voice. In some aspects, a mmW carrier quality report may be adjusted to deprioritize mmW in response to determining the RF exposure condition for the wireless device is occurring during the voice call.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may apply a per chain transmit power split to a cumulative maximum transmit power level (MTPL). The UE may calculate a value associated with a conditional power backoff, wherein the value associated with the conditional power backoff is calculated after the per chain transmit power split is applied to the cumulative MTPL. The UE may transmit, using multiple transmit chains, an uplink signal using a final transmit power level, wherein the final transmit power level is based on a value of the cumulative MTPL after the per chain transmit power split is applied to the cumulative MTPL and the calculated value associated with the conditional power backoff. Numerous other aspects are described.

    Abstract: Example aspects include a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium for wireless communication at user equipment (UE) of a mobile network, comprising monitoring an uplink metric of an uplink transmission channel. The aspects further include calculating an uplink transmit power based at least on a tolerance threshold. Additionally, the aspects include transmitting, via the uplink transmission channel according to the uplink transmit power, an uplink transmission. Additionally, the aspects include detecting a change in the uplink metric. Additionally, the aspects include comparing the change in the uplink metric with performance improvement criteria. Additionally, the aspects include determining whether to adjust the uplink transmit power. Additionally, the aspects include iterating adjustments to the uplink transmit power. Additionally, the aspects include stopping the adjustments to the uplink transmit power in response to determining that the uplink metric meets a performance threshold or in response to determining that the tolerance threshold has been met.
