    Abstract: Beam management triggers due to polarization imbalance with UE cases and covers are described. An apparatus is configured to perform a polarization imbalance measurement(s), for a UE external covering or case, of a signal transmission(s). The apparatus is configured to switch to a set of beam weights for communication between the UE and a network node for polarization imbalance mitigation. The apparatus is configured to communicate, with the network node, based on the set of beam weights. Another apparatus is configured to transmit, for a UE, a signal transmission(s) for a polarization imbalance measurement(s) for an external covering or case of the UE. The apparatus is configured to receive, from the UE, a beamforming indication indicative of a request to switch to a set of beam weights for polarization imbalance mitigation. The apparatus is configured to communicate, with the UE, based on the set of beam weights.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control message indicating a power scaling parameter dedicated to a frequency subband of a band for wireless communications by an antenna panel at the UE. In some cases, the UE may switch from a second frequency subband of the band to the frequency subband based on receiving the control message, and the UE may switch from a second power scaling parameter associated with the second frequency subband to the power scaling parameter based on switching to the frequency subband. The UE may transmit, by the antenna panel, a signal via the frequency subband at a transmit power that is based on the power scaling parameter dedicated to the frequency subband.

    Abstract: A dual-polarized multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) mobile device is provided that includes a first array of antennas and a second array of antennas. Based upon a blockage of at least one of the array of antennas being less than a blockage threshold, the mobile device operates in a default configuration in which a default polarization selection from the second array is used in combination with a fixed polarization selection from the first array to form a first MIMO layer signal and a second MIMO layer signal. Should the blockage exceed the blockage threshold and an optional performance threshold be satisfied, the mobile device may operate in a dynamic configuration in which a dynamic polarization selection from the second array is reversed as compared to the default polarization selection.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE). The UE transmits capability information corresponding to one or more antenna modules of the UE to a network entity. The capability information may include a quantity of boresight directions associated with each antenna module of the one or more antenna modules. The UE may receive from the network entity, after the capability information is transmitted, an indication of a beam switch and/or an antenna module switch. The beam switch indicates a switch from an active beam to a target beam. The antenna module switch indicates a switch from an active antenna module to a target antenna module.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may include an L shaped antenna module, which may include a first array of antenna elements in one dimension and a second array of antenna elements in a second dimension. In an L shaped antenna module, antenna element configurations may be used that combine antenna elements across the two sides of the “L”. In some aspects, a UE may dynamically select a configuration of antenna elements of an L shaped antenna module to enhance performance and power consumption. In some aspects, the UE may select whether to use a cross-polarization configuration or a co-polar configuration for the L shaped antenna module.
