    Abstract: Methods and systems for reducing power in an image pipeline are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, by an electronic device, a first image stream from an imaging sensor at a first frame rate, receiving, by the electronic device, measurements from a motion sensor at a rate greater than or equal to the first frame rate, generating, by the electronic device, a second image stream from the first image stream, the second image stream having a second frame rate less than the first frame rate, modifying, via an imaging pipeline of the electronic device, the second image stream at the second frame rate, generating, by the imaging pipeline, new frames based on the measurements and the second image stream, and generating a third image stream by inserting the new frames into the second image stream so as to achieve a frame rate greater than the second frame rate.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for reducing power by controlling a sensor to selectively downscale portions of generated image signals representing a target scene image, the downscaled portions corresponding to identified portions of a previously processed captured and image also representative of the target scene. One innovation includes an imaging device having an image sensor having an array of imaging elements, the image sensor configured to generate first image information of a first spatial resolution for first portions of the array of imaging elements, and generate second image information for one or more second portions of the array of imaging elements, the second image information having one or more second spatial resolutions that are downscaled relative to the first spatial resolution, the image sensor further configured to control the downscaling of the one or more second resolutions by received downscaling control information identifying portions of the array of imaging elements.
