Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a transmitter may detect at least one distance between the transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter may transmit, to the receiver, information using a selected band of a wide band or a narrow band, where the selected band is based at least in part on the at least one distance. Similarly, in some aspects, a receiver may detect at least one distance between the receiver and a transmitter. The receiver may receive, from the transmitter, information using a selected band of a wide band or a narrow band, where the selected band is based at least in part on the at least one distance. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for wireless range extension for communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN). In some aspects, a first WLAN device and a second WLAN device may exchange one or more management frames advertising support for a non-orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (non-OFDM) data rate for communications via one or more non-2.4 GHz bands. In some aspects, the non-OFDM data rate may be a data rate of a plurality of data rates associated with an IEEE 802.11b standard, and the one or more non-2.4 GHz bands may include one or more of a 3.5 GHz band, a 5 GHz band, a 6 GHz band, a 45 GHz band, and a 60 GHz band. The first and second WLAN devices may select the non-OFDM data rate and at least one of the non-2.4 GHz bands for exchange data communications.
