摘要： This invention describes a method and a system that is used to provide a list of personnel who were present in a building or area that has been evacuated due to an emergency, such as a fire or earthquake. The monitor stores data from a time clock or access control system in parallel with a separate server. The monitor is portable and can be taken out of the building. The monitor can be connected to central alarm monitoring company, who can act as a backup system with the ability to provide the data to a responding fire department. The portable unit can display the names, communicate the data to other display devices including printers.

摘要： A method and apparatus are provided for adaptively controlling printer functions of a dot matrix printer in response to sensing the type of printer ink cartridge being used. An identifying resistive value is applied to surface of the cartridge and installed within the printer. The printer includes contacts that include sensors and sensor circuitry useful to detect a presence of the resistive indicator and the resistive value thereof. The sensed resistive value is used to directly control printer functions, and/or to access stored data or printer control routines specific to the type of cartridge, or desired performance characteristics. Stored information, which may be appended by other sensed information such as printer usage data, is used to selectively regulate printer operation to achieve maximum efficiency and performance from the particular ink cartridge.

摘要： A time recorder having associated intermittent biometric sensor and comparison apparatus is provided. The time recorder comprises a time recording mechanism for recording the presence of a worker, upon entry of a worker specific identifier at the time recording mechanism. A memory circuit is provided for storing records of worker specific biometric reference data, each record being associated with a worker specific identifier. A biometric sensor operates to sense biometric data associated with the worker present at the sensor. An intermittent comparison circuit operates to intermittently compare the sensed biometric data to the biometric reference data associated with the worker specific identifier entered at the time recording mechanism. A printing circuit or video display circuit operates to generate printed indicia representative of the comparison between the sensed biometric data and the biometric reference data associated with the worker specific identifier entered at the time recording mechanism.

摘要： A locking case is provided including a base portion and a lid portion rotatably engaged to the base portion. A locking mechanism is mounted on the lid portion and extends therethrough. The locking mechanism includes a cam member having first and second surfaces, and being rotatable to a locked position in response to operation of the locking mechanism. A catch is mounted to the base portion and is disposed proximate the cam first surface when the cam is in the locked position. A reinforcing bracket is mounted to the lid. The reinforcing bracket has a reinforcing flange disposed proximate the cam second surface when the cam is disposed in the locked position.

摘要： Battery back up system is disclosed for powering a wall transformer when a power supply failure occurs. The system comprises a back up battery connectable to the wall transformer to provide power to the device powered by the wall transformer, upon a power interruption. The system may include an adaptor into which the backup battery and wall transformer may be connected. The adaptor may be connected to a conventional AC power source. Other embodiments of the invention allow a backup battery to be directly connected to the wall transformer.
