摘要： A rotating electrical machine has a rotor composed of laminations having salient poles. The poles have one or more holes which are positioned so as to reduce the peak stress experienced by the lamination when the rotor is rotating. The holes are chosen according to a disclosed design procedure which gives a reduction in peak stress for a given limit on the output of the machine.

摘要： A switched reluctance machine has an array of poles attached to a stationary holding member to form a stator. The stator has no back-iron. The machine has two arrays of rotor poles, positioned on either side of the stator poles, and circumferentially aligned with each other. When a pair of rotor poles is aligned with a stator pole, a small airgap is formed at each end of the stator pole, across which flux can be driven to produce torque in a rotary arrangement or force in a linear arrangement. When the poles are in the unaligned position, the phase inductance is very low.

摘要： A switched reluctance machine has an array of poles attached to a stationary holding member to form a stator. The stator has no back-iron. The machine has two arrays of rotor poles, positioned on either side of the stator poles, and circumferentially aligned with each other. When a pair of rotor poles is aligned with a stator pole, a small airgap is formed at each end of the stator pole, across which flux can be driven to produce torque in a rotary arrangement or force in a linear arrangement. 摘要： A stator (50) for an electrical machine. A core of the stator (50) is made up of a series of connected segments (42), that are rotatable relative to one another during an assembly operation. Each segment (42) includes a radially outermost base portion (44) from which a respective integral pole piece (46) projects substantially inwardly to a pole piece tip. The tip includes a surface (49) that is arcuate and concentric with an axis of rotation of the machine. Each pole piece (46) projects in a non-radial direction and such that a semi-closed slot (48) arranged to locate part of a least one coil (30) therein is provided between each pair of juxtaposed pole pieces (46). A coil (30) is fittable to a respective one of the pole pieces (46) during the assembly operation without deformation of the pole piece (46).

摘要： A stator core for an electrical machine includes an annular yoke and a plurality of teeth spaced circumferentially on the annular yoke and extending radially therefrom, the spaces between the teeth defining circumferentially spaced winding slots. The teeth are formed as separate components from a soft magnetic powder material. Each tooth has non-decreasing cross-sectional dimensions in a direction towards a distal tip along a length of the tooth corresponding to a winding slot, and has the same or smaller cross-sectional dimensions along a proximal end of the tooth. Thereby, the tooth may be assembled with a core-back section of the annular yoke and is able to receive a coil before the assembling with the yoke.

摘要： A rotor for a switched reluctance machine has its main magnetic circuit provided by two mouldings of soft magnetic composite. The mouldings are substantially identical and fit together to form a magnetic circuit which, by virtue of its design, has a very low inductance in the unaligned position. The portions of the magnetic circuit lie beyond the active length of the rotor poles and the flux path is described in three dimensions.
