Abstract: A membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell includes a catalyst layer having a first main surface and a second main surface, a gas diffusion layer disposed on a side of the first main surface, and an electrolyte membrane disposed on a side of the second main surface, wherein the gas diffusion layer includes a conductive material and a polymer resin, the conductive material comprises a fibrous carbon material, an average fiber diameter D of the fibrous carbon material is equal to or less than 25% of a thickness T of the catalyst layer, and in a cross section in a thickness direction of the catalyst layer, an arithmetic mean roughness Ra1 of the first main surface and an arithmetic mean roughness Ra2 of the second main surface satisfies the relation, Ra1>Ra2.

Abstract: Disclosed is a catalyst layer for a fuel cell that has good gas diffusion properties in the entire catalyst layer and in which coarsening of catalyst particles can be suppressed. The catalyst layer for a fuel cell includes fibrous conductive members and catalyst particles. The fibrous conductive members are inclined relative to the surface direction of the catalyst layer, and the length L of the fibrous conductive members and the thickness T of the catalyst layer satisfy the relational expression: L/T≤3. Each of the catalyst particles includes a core portion and a shell portion that covers the core portion, and contains a component different from that of the core portion.

A ratio of the first fibrous electrically-conductive member to 100 parts by mass of the first particulate conductive member is 30 to 50 parts by mass. The first proton conductive resin has an EW value of 600 to 850.

Abstract: An electrolytic capacitor includes an anode body having a porous structure, an anode lead partially embedded in the anode body, a dielectric layer formed on a surface of the anode body, and a cathode part that covers at least part of the dielectric layer. The anode body has a first region in which first particles sintered together and a second region in which second particles sintered together. The average particle diameter D1 of the first particles is smaller than the average particle diameter D2 of the second particles. The volume-based pore diameter distribution of the anode body with the dielectric layer has a first peak in a range of less than or equal to 0.5 μm in pore diameter, and a second peak in a range of more than 0.5 μm in pore diameter.

Abstract: A fuel cell includes a pair of separators for clamping a laminate including a membrane electrode assembly, an anode gas diffusion layer, and a cathode gas diffusion layer, and a frame formed from thermosetting resin and disposed between the separators to surround a periphery of the laminate. At least one of the anode and the cathode gas diffusion layers is formed from a composite of thermoplastic resin and conductive particles, and includes a protrusion protruding beyond a level of a surface of the frame which faces one of the separators in a state that the laminate is not clamped between the separators under a predetermined pressure. The one of the separators presses the protrusion and gets the one of the gas diffusion layers to be deformed and put into contact with the frame in a state that the laminate is clamped between the separators under the predetermined pressure.
